Well, started a thread some times ago at Kvr on similar issues, then walked in on a thread on the FM7 forum and since I'am stubborn, I'am back with some more ideas and rethinking.
Envelopes windows should be given ( at least ) 2 buttons
A button for full screen of three windows of each « line » envelopes
A button for envelopes grouped by kind, the « orphan » master filter freq could be added to the « line » filter freq

    If a « line » is fully activated, we've got 7 envelopes :
    Oscill amp
    Main pitch
    Mod pitch
    Mod index/balance
    Filter freq
    Mod pitch
    Mod balance

7 colors are still manageable, concerning the display of the names : grey ( not activated/created ) colored ( actived ) bold colored ( edited ) you could switch between states on clicking on 3 colored squares on the left of the names.
By default the window appears to be scaled by the largest amplitude envelope + longest envelope, simple key toggle like space bar for browsing in « wrap mode » between envelopes scaled to the window.
Now imagine an envelope of 0.125 max amplitude and 2.635 second long, scaling down is easy but up is always difficult, when you pull a breakpoint out of the window, a small scale appears and then you could drop the dot on 0.8 for instance and then scale it down if needed, on the time scale there should be several scales : 0.1-1 second, 1-10, 10-100 ( pads I presume ? )
It would be fine once a breakpoint is edited to have an « X and Y » line that « reflects » in other windows to have an overview of the interactions, you could have amplitude value displayed on up left quadrant and time on down right quadrant.
The FM7, Kontakt envelopes are nice ( and thinner ) with the little nodes to change the slope.

    Other ideas :
You could do quick copy-paste of envelope by left - clicking on a nude portion and bringing it to the name of the desired target
    Bipolar envelopes will be welcome too ! ! ! ! ! ! !
    Coarse - fine grids
    Envelopes for Lfos

    Feel free to bring some more ! ! ! ! !

This envelope stuff matters a lot to me because either in FM7 or Absynth, I progress ( or try to ! ! ! ) too much by trials and errors to my taste : I just can't get the picture ! ! ! with stacked envelopes and synchronised windows when scaling, I could tell : « I'am really in charge ! ! ! ! ! ! » because so far I feel trapped in the « presets area » and I waste lots of time figuring what makes a given preset, of course there are other issues than envelopes but this one is scratching my head bald ( scrollups - scrolldowns = fed up ! ! ! )

I'am aware this not gonna be easy to implement and if some of you ponder : what's he talking about ? well try this at work : present 3 graphs, 7 curves each or ... 21 graphs, 1 curve each ... how embarassing ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

A wishlist and bugs « board » on NI products would be fine because you could quickly discover a suggestion has been already made or your peculiar bug is already reported ; what a time savior and overall forums thinner ! ! I didn't have the courage to browse the 3500 posts at the Yahoo forum !

Thanks for your ideas - did you know that you can already copy and paste between absynth envelopes? Just click on a "source" envelope, select copy, then click on the "destination" envelope and paste.

    Best, Jake

    Thanks for answering Jake ...
I know about the copy-paste possibility

One or two things not related to the envelopes matter but in the same scope : less clicks - more instant insight.

It would be keen to always see the mod oscillators.

Same for Lfo and MIDI targetting, for instance some colored leds next to the parametes that would prevent from unnecessary browsing ...
Is there a Lfo on this one ? I would instantly know ...

    enuff for today !! ;-)
