    Better keys, IMHO. YMMV.

I just played on an Akai controller (MPK61 I think?) which I wasn't overly enamored with. Weird touch sensitivity resulted in it being very hard to control extreme velocities (I'm speaking as a pianist). I tried different velocity curves but couldn't adapt to it.

No idea about how it would compare to the M-Audio offerings, but I strongly recommend finding your way to a store where you can try them hands-on. They will all feel very different from each other.

    Neither,
do yourself a favor and get an 88 key, weighted, graded, hammer-action digital piano, with a usb/midi ports.

    you're very welcome.

If this is going to be the "main" part of your music production gear, I say, Go to your local Music shop and try them. there you may also find some other model that might better suit your need. I'm a huge fan of Novation Keyboard, but some hate them.

Make sure you demo whatever cheap piece of **** you try on a Muse Receptor instead of a hardware rompler. There's a difference in MIDI resolution.
As much as we would like to pretend that MIDI controllers have Piano action, etc.
They will never have true Piano action, just weighted keys for better control.
Semi weighted action really sucks, but even the lamest 88 note action like the Oxygen and KS88 has is perfect for me.
I can do waterfall organ techniques, synths and Piano.
But for real Piano, just go buy one.
Just practicing on a real Piano gives you monster chops on these regurgitated pieces of **** we have to buy again every 2 years anyways.
