This is a suggested feature I would like to see added to traktor.

I am currently in the process of creating my own midi mapping.
My thoughts for my design were 2 have modes/layers, remix deck controls and tradition djing. where each mode also has multiple layers.

It is very possible with 2 modifiers. However if I wish to create better visual feedback from led's in the midi controller. I need 3.

to be more specific with my problem.
I have mapped the remix decks and layered the sample pages over each other. where I get unstuck is, in order to have visual feedback from the beat phase I require 2 modifiers. 1 for the remix cell state and another 1 for the page selector state.
and if I wanted to create the mapping I had in mind I would require yet another modifier.
ie. tradition djing would have mod1 state 0
remix decks would have mod1 state 1
thus pressing the button attached to mod1 would give me another page to work with.

What I have written may be unclear. But my suggestion should be, having the option for a 3rd modifier would give me the ability to create the midi mapping as I envisioned it. :)

aaaand NI does not care about your ability to midi-map a 3rd party controller, so don't get your hopes up ;)

I'm confused, because Traktor mappings give you up to 8 modifiers with 8 values each (0 to 7). What am I missing?

Its merely a suggestion. I am sure user input has helped shaped traktor to make it what it is today...
I have no desire to carry multi controllers to a gig when a single one will suffice.

I mean the ability to have 3 modifiers for a single parameter
    for example
    add out- beat phase
    cond1: Slot1 Cell1 state.remix deck C=Playing
    cond2: M1=0
    cond3: M2=1

    I require that extra condition.

gah. maybe your right tmccoy, ive been think about this for the last 2 days. the third modifier would make it easier to code. but I think as i was just trying to think how to explain it I had an idea :)

Bored by great (!!) feature requests that NI unfortunately won't ever listen to.. yes ;)

Oh, an extra Modifier Condition - now I get it and agree 2 is a bit limiting. Hopefully you might have worked out a way to map it with creative use of the two modifiers? Maybe a picture would help us understand how you overlaid the buttons.

Could you identify the state of the controller using M1=1 for Track Deck and then M1=2 for Remix mode?

You realize the concept of a forum right? A space in which to discuss ideas. This particular forum is about modifiers and as much as you would like to think it is, it is not about you. If it doesn't interest you, you don't have to contribute.. yes ;)

Back to troubleshooting my midi mapping. Originally I was thinking of doing this:

    mod1-state0-tradition DJ controls/FX
    --------state1-remix decks --> mod2- state0 - keylock/fx/monitor/punch
    -------------------------------------------- state1- sample grid 1
    -------------------------------------------- state2- sample grid 2
    -------------------------------------------- state3- sample grid 3
-------------------------------------------- state4- etc what ever other layers i needed for the remix decks

Instead I will have to do this:

    mod1- state0 - keylock/fx/monitor/punch
    -------- state1- sample grid 1
    -------- state2- sample grid 2
    -------- state3- sample grid 3
-------- state4- etc what ever other layers i needed for the remix decks
    .
    .
    -------- state7- traditional DJ controls/FX

basically my first idea would have modes within modes. however the second solution should function quite nicely.

So I have come across another question regarding modifiers.

Is it possible to get modifiers to default back to the previous number stored instead of back to 0 when using interaction mode 'hold'?
    i.e.
    I set mod1 to state 6
hold another button that sets it to state 3
I release this button and to defaults back to 6 (not 0)
