    library

Thanks again, I searched the whole registry but could not find more paths to edit. I think it is a problem with the installer, because all the other updates work fine. I even tried to uncheck the write and read protection of the folder, although as administrator I have the full rights of that folder. I even tried to start the installer as administrator. I am wondering why only the RTAS is selectable during the installation, because it is the only thing I didn't installed before. Even the vst and the vst 64 are not selectable during the installtion.
Have a nice sunday, I thing I give it up.

...there is some misunderstanding, for me it's completely ok with 5.6.1. Just something unclear with the file names, I first downloaded the unzipped [Reaktor 5 5.6.1 Setup PC.exe] right from the Service Center, later I downloaded the Reaktor_5_561U_PC.zip from NI website with the letter U (Update) in the filename, which contains the same [Reaktor 5 5.6.1 Setup PC.exe] inside. So it is the update file, which needs to be installed only after the previous full install.

    thanks!

i'll wait for NI support just to see what they say. hopefully they don't recommend me hacking into the registry or an .INI file.

Same problem here: Win7 64-bit Pro
Reaktor with its library is installed in Program Files/Native Instruments - i.e. in the 64-bit folder.
Can't wait to see Reaktor in Cubase without spikes...

i uninstalled reaktor, then installed reaktor and library from the komplete 7 disc, then applied 5.6.0 installer, then applied 5.6.1 installer.

    worked for me.

re-installing from the Komplete 7 disc is a good idea. you might be able to install 5.6.1 afterwards - thus bypassing the 5.6.0 install.

thanks for reporting back on this.

so it seems you need to install 5.6.0, then 5.6.1

    I uninstalled, reinstalled from Komplete 6, Reaktor 5.5, 5.6.0, 5.6.1, same problem :-(

PS. You can download 5.6 from the update page of NI after lockin.
    ---
Finally I got it to work as you propose:
    1. Uninstall Reaktor
    2. Reinstall from Komplete 6
    3. Activate with Service Center
    4. Install 5.6.0 with libary content
    5. Install 5.6.1

Thanks for the help. I hope nobody counts the time for searching, trying and maintenance in the computer century.

This sounds a lot like the problem I am having with Komplete 7 installation on Windows 7 64-bit.

I have posted at length about this elsewhere and I am still struggling, but I am understanding some of the issues.

For me, I have found that the installer for Windows 7 64-bit has serious errors, especially if you uninstall something. Things get installed in the wrong place, registry settings are incorrectly made, uninstalled entries are not performed properly so a new install will not work.

It is an enormous headache and I thought it was me having trouble with a new computer, but now I suspect that someone over there needs to learn how to write a proper install script.

I think something went wrong when they modified the 32-bit dlls and VSTs to become 64-bit versions.

Your system may work fine, because the software basically works, but if you uninstall or modify something in Windows 7 64-bit, you will discover the mess that poor paths make.

I've been working on this for several weeks, it's quite a chore.

The worst thing you can do is uninstall, I think.

But, maybe it is just me, I'm new to Windows 7 and new to 64-bit OS's, but I do know that 32-bit programs do not belong in 64-bit file locations.

I have made very detailed notes about my experiences, maybe I will write a book about how not to write software....

    Or maybe I'm going senile....

My service center says I am all up-to-date. But I have not updated any of the newer things.

Service Center has been broken for me for so long I no longer believe it is useful.

I use to get transmission errors when it tried to get the updates, but that coincided with all these Maintenence shutdown messages we see on forum so often, so I though it was just connectivity issues.

Now I don't see those errors, but I don't see any updates either.

    I got it to work

I broke down and bought Komplete 8 upgrade and installed everything in a new library location and the problem went away.

    thanks to all.

I just ran into this error message during the 5.6.1 install, which is probably what everybody else in this thread is getting:

"The library cannot be updated, because the stored install location of this component is not valid. Please use the Options dialog of the application to select a valid location for the library content, then start this update installer again."

This is on Windows 7 64bit. Previous updates of Reaktor always worked without problems, and so did recent updates for all other Komplete products. My Reaktor installation was never moved, and when Reaktor runs, it can find its own library without problems, so the message "the stored install location of this component is not valid" looks like a load of crap.

I find it pretty mazing that Native Instruments would simply ignore what is obviously a major bug in this upgrade that many users suffer from.

Has any solution to the problem been found in the meantime that is known to work? Has Customer Support ever reacted to queries in this matter?

    To "wblackledg" (previous post):
Please do not condone and even support bad product quality and lacking customer service by buying updates to circumvent problems. We do want to avoid the impression that the customer base is willing to accept anything and throw good money after bad...

Finally after many months the problem is solved - don't use special characters in your password for Service Center. It accepts them, but can't use them and won't complain about them.

This is normal because the libraries are looking for updates to the new format, but you were not forced to buy KOMPLET 8 to solve your problem!

    Reaktor 5561 update library solved

Hi there! Here the answer from NI:

"the root of your issue is an obsolete registry entry. Please follow the steps
    below to delete this entry:

    - Start the Windows registry editor by typing "regedit" into the Windows menu
Search (Windows 7/Vista) or Run (Windows XP) field and then hitting "Enter".

    - Proceed to the following entry in the left row of the Windows Registry Editor:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Reaktor 5

    - Right-click onto the "Reaktor 5" folder and select "delete".

    Done!

Please avoid to perform any other changes to the Windows registry as this can
seriously damage your system if you aren't fully aware of what changes you apply.

I had the same problem and this did not work for me. Actually, NI told me at one point to wipe Windows and re-install it - thanks NI! I worked out on my own however, that there was another such entry in the registry; I don't remember the exact path, but I think it might've been the 32-bit equivalent of the above path (i.e., this is the path that gets read by 32-bit applications). Anyway, deleting the entry made the updater stop whining. Really though, NI should fix their installer(s)....
