Hi welcome! Guitar rig 3 sure is a nice product however it would sure be nice to see 64 bit drivers for rig Kontrol 3. I't's my only piece of hardware that doesn't have 64 bit driver support and I have a lot of hardware.

What do you gain for the extra 32 bits?

What I gain is the ability to load more instances of say guitar rig 3 in my daw. I might have say 1 instance of dash signature eve running and 3 differant instances of guitar rig 3 running all at the same time on differant tracks for a live jam. Now I set my latency to zero and guitar rig to HQ (high quality). If you tryed to run all of this in 32 bit mode you would freeze or crash you would see your processor go to 100% in a hurry however in 64 bit mode you can get away with it if you have a good enough processor.

I know I have been on a bit of a rant since I bought this yesterday however I really am pleased with it. Guitar rig 3 is an awsome piece of software and the software IS compatable 100% with vista 64 bit it's just the rig kontrol drivers that are the issue. Anyways I'm sure it will all work itself out in the end:)

Faster CPU and 64 bit does not mean lower latency...

Are you seriously defending the lack of 64bit drivers? woah. I thought technology companies were forward thinking.

What does 64bits mean to me? I run Sonar 7 (soon 8) in Vista64. Since Sonar has a 64bit audio engine, it translates to 30% better performance in native 64 bit mode.

    Hope that answers your question.

I'm not defending the lack of the drivers. I'm asking you what the benefits are to Guitar Rig and the Guitar Rig software?

Remember, I'm not an NI employee!

No- he's asking you what you're really gaining.
Where do you get that figure? And, if that's the case, do you care to explain all the 64 bit Sonar users who've gone back to using Sonar as a 32 bit app (I'm a Sonar user myself)?

As much as I'd like it to be otherwise, x64 isn't quite ready for prime time from either a software or hardware aspect. The only real advantage in running x64 in a DAW right now is being able to use more RAM, and that's offset by such things as 95% of the plugins out there still being 32 bit (BitBridge is far from perfect, as I'm sure you've noticed) and the like.

I think that's a bit disingenuous. The reason that x64 "isn't quite ready for prime time" due to hardware and software problems is because the industry has been absolutely abhorrent in moving to a 64-bit standard. Like NI's failure to provide promised 64-bit drivers for Rig Kontrol 3. Things like that prevent us from using 64-bit OSes, despite the fact that they offer tangible, real performance benefits well beyond just addressing more memory. It's an industry failure. 64-bit processors have been out for years and years, have even been mainstream for years, but still we users have to wait on companies to recognize their own chicken-or-egg failures to provide the means by which 64-bit can become mainstream.

It's getting to the point that most audio hardware might as well be considered legacy, in terms of OS support. This is ridiculous. What if audio companies, back in 2001 or 2002 had said to themselves, "Hm, USB 2.0 isn't ready for prime time yet because until now we have only used USB 1.1, so we're going to continue using USB 1.1." It would be an absolutely mind boggling failure on their part to adapt to improvements in technology and provide users with support for their products. And yet we see this play out in terms of drivers and software support in this niche market.

i agree with both of you (agreed & ew). Sonar 8.31 PE x64 does not seem to understand that Guitar Rig XE 64 bit is on my system at all

That is all interesting. But what about 64 bit driver for mac? I really need it.
