I have quite a few folders in Kore soundpacks that are in the samples folders that are called "__NI_SMPL_ADD__".

They contain files with the same name as samples, but with a .NOV extension.

    For example:

    North India Samples/Tabla Samples/Left Closed/Ka 1/__NI_SMPL_ADD__

That folder contains a file named after a sample:
    Tabla Ka Vel_1.nov

This is just a single example, there are 238 directories like this on my file system, probably occupying a gigabyte of storage.

The PC has a bunch of these the Mac fewer or different ones.

I don't think they are needed and they are probably a byproduct of some manufacturing process.

    Does anyone know for sure?

I found out that they are created by Kontakt when you view waveforms. In other words, they are analysis files.

It seems they may be removed with no problems.
