When I first opened it up and saw the plug-in section at the top I thought “awesome! Layered instruments”... nope. FX plugins? I prefer to keep those on my mixer. I guess this would be good for performance based FX, I don’t know.

So when are you guys going to focus on giving us back the features that you took away by moving away from control editor? I think you should start there before adding new stuff. I still can’t create zones like I could with my MK1. I can’t change the default light guide color, or just turn it off all together like I could on my MK1

    1) I think it would be very useful if you would allow us to make our own light guides for 3erd party plugins and save them as a part of the user preset. The light guide would be awesome for plugins like superior drummer 3.

    2) now that you have an interface for multiple plugins. Why not allow multiple instruments. And bring back the ability from the mk1 to use zones

    3) Make a Komplete Kontrol MIDI template plug-in. The plug-in would be used as an insert plug-in. Basically you could set a midi preset within the plug-in and then the keyboard would switch to the midi preset when it detects that is on that channel ....

    4) This would make 3 more usefully. The ability to configure everything on a midi template. Including keys and light guides.

    5) Maschine hardware support. Map stuff to machine drum pads the same way you do to the keys. Would be awesome to have battery auto mapped to machine hardware with matching light guides.

    6) This applies more to everything then it does just to KK. BUT MAKE YOUR PLUGINS RESIZABLE. It actually seem like you made the actual plug-in display smaller with KK2. It use to fill the whole window, now there is a lot of dead space and it looks smaller. Most companies are making plugins resizable... please do the same.

Also, is there a reason that you can’t allow access to the keyboard settings from within the plug-in version?

Wow.. couldn’t agree more.. on each one, 1 to 3 especially.. i’ve been ‘dreaming’ about those for a long time.
thanks for such great ideas.. further, those midi template ideas are exactly the right thing to do, NI are you taking notes? God I hope you are :(

Same here, and as I mentioned in another thread, I was really hoping we would finally get the ribbon control back in 2.0.0, but I guess not. I miss the ping-ponging and programmable effects it had with the Mk I, and I can't understand why it's so hard to put back functionality that was once there to begin with?

Ha, pretty much covered every aspect many of us were pointing to within the Beta....

And I even called this type of thread would not be far to follow the release of "Komplete Kontrol 2.0" since this release addresses only a few small issues and adds a [useless as it is currently] fx section.

So place your waiting caps on and prepare to wait at least 6-12 months more for the next release which will also not address any of the current issues/concerns users have.

So - so disapointed. Always grateful for improvements - but - errr - are there any? Please please bring back 'controller editor' - I seriously now regret having 'upgraded' to the MK2 - still cannot name templates - still cannot use transport controls in Reaper - so much lost from MK1.

I love NI vst's and the hardware is lovely (again tho - MK1 better than MK2) but this is supposed to be Komplete KONTROL - the 'control' element seems to have been totally overlooked - I had hoped it would be addressed - but this release shows that this is far from the case.

And still stuck with that weeny leetle window - probably that's why I tend to start Analogue Lab as my first choice nowadays - such beaut looking software.

    Hey ho.

    All the best.

I feel the same. There is no deep integration with Studio One, but at least the Transport could be controlled with the MK1. And, I sold that. So... Yeah. It's on me, but I wish I knew about the Controller Editor first. I mean, I would have upgraded my portable Maschine MK2 to MK3 at that time instead and just waited until the S61 MK2 was worked out. I use Maschine, a lot. So, some new features on the MK2 are very welcome. But, this controller lacks basic features, which we were accustomed to using in Version 1.

Maybe NI secretly hates keyboardists, Lol. Is the plugin really smaller? Should I not update? I do like the idea of being able to slap a reverb or delay on a preset and have some pre-mapped knobby control.

I don't agree to „LOL” because my impression is that NI really don't like keyboarders.
A full Midi integration (means a professional midi management) is not NI's intention - i don't know why - NI is keeping silent.

I gave up when I saw they were adding the effects stuff and blindly ignoring the fact that they have stripped away the (basic) functionality in the original KK. I've never seen such a backward step in a V2 product. So my KK MK2 is now leaning against the wall waiting to go on e-bay and I've bought an Arturia Keylab instead which is what I should have done in the first place. Hooked it up to AKAI VIP and never looked back. The NI marketing and roadmap is just bonkers.

Personally Im liking the FX section, especially now that Waves have made a lot of their plugins NKS now. Makes using them a joy with KK. As for Akai VIP, well for me that was an awful cludge of buggy software. V3 was slightly better, but still pails in comparison to KK2

It is good to get an update from time to time and I would like to say "Thank you" to NI.
But there is still so much potential in KK and it is a shame that they are not taking full advantage of it!

I am still missing an AU3 version of the plugin to be able to use KK's arpeggiator and chord functions in Logic as MIDI FX.

i won't be buying a KK2 until these issues are addressed....

NI has been pretty slow updating the KK2....and they are always mum on objectives....

always got a bad gut feeling they are ready to abandon stuff because all resources are involved in marketing and developing a new flagship....

Yep - I can understand that. I use Arturia - and I have to say Analogue Lab blows KK outta the water - now that KK2 is such a retrograde step I think I may get an Arturua keys controller as well - frankly - my S61 MK2 is now simply a very expensive keyboard that actually does less in my DAW environment than a 100 kwid cheapo 'board. No way will I ever upgrade KK s/ware in the future (i.e Ultimate 12) - I have learnt my lesson. Great shame.

    Guys, you are not alone.

As somebody who has watched tens and tens of videos before finally deciding to buy an MK2, I wished I had not spent the money.
Not one of the videos did highlight the issues with the keyboard and KK software.

Komplete Kontrol is a waste of time and resources in Logic Pro X, it is crashy, does sometimes not restore the settings and is very cumbersome to work with. Even worse, there is absolutely no way to add all my hundreds of self made and purchased presets to the browser in a reasonable way. At the moment, it seems that loading and saving each single preset is the way to go for every synth. 3rd party libraries for Kontakt do not show either and having Quick Load active, does not allow me to use the keyboard arrow keys to quickly scroll through the presets. If Kontakt could communicate directly, we could at least use the lightguide feature, but having to load Kontakt into KK first is ... well, not really smart.

And the horizontal position of the ribbon controller does not allow me to actually use it, because every once in a while, when trying to use the mod or pitch bend wheel, I occasionally press the ribbon with my palm and ... bam, the sound gets completely messed up. So I had to disable it, altought this was one of the controllers I was really fond to have. Why did no beta tester or product designer recognize how badly implemented this is?

It´s now up to NI to show if they can really come up with something that makes these keyboards worth having, but looking at the roadmap for KK does not seem as if there´s serious development going on.

I'm a newbie to NI and just got the S61 MK2. Was longing for the first edition since it came out but didn't have the coin. So this is my first foray into NI, so I can't compare with things like the Controller Editor for first edition, etc. I'm surprised that there aren't as many customizable things about this controller, at least not that it appears. I'd like those buttons and knobs to be programmable way beyond just CC or other MIDI controls. I'd love to be able to program them to switch sounds or to jump to a specific patch or instrument (great for live performance) or transpose my keyboard to whatever I wanted, or switch patches within an instrument loaded into Kontakt, to name a few.

That stuff is all software so maybe it could still come. But yes, also confused as to why KK software window isn't resizable, and awkwardly resizes when the instrument loaded is "bigger" or smaller... why not make it resizable, and if I've resized it too small then size it up if needed, but just let me full-screen it if I want?

Lack of transport on a lot of DAWs due to MCU being removed is horrendous. (https://www.native-instruments.com/...ol-mk2-due-to-ni-removing-mcu-support.329081/)

My patience is being really tried, and I've only had the KK MK2 since April, can't imagine how some of you are feeling. This product has so much potential, but the lack of communication with customers is really frustrating, and with no public roadmap or open letter about KK MK2 being a retrograde step in many ways, I'm guessing this isn't going to change any time soon.

This goes hand-in-hand with having the headphone jack on the rear of the Maschine MK3 instead of the front.

I ended up buying a Akai Advance just for the layering option, this was requested at least 4 years ago, heavily with the V1 S series. What gives NI?
Kore did this what 10 or more years ago? This is just ridiculous at this point. We all know that in order for this software to be taken seriously as a workflow enhancer to our studios, it should do the most basic things such as transport controls in our daws, and we should be able to layer our sounds by now. FIX THIS SOFTWARE

Oh and by the way, Ableton sucks for alot of us and when brilliant daws like Studio One are on the back burner to Ableton it really pisses some of us off. Hire more coders, it's not like you don't have the money to.
