A Couple of Very Simple Questions

Hello

Just upgraded from 4 to 5 and a couple of things that seemed very obvious in version 4 appear much harder to find in version 5.

Very simple... don't laugh at me

Firstly, how do I lock an ensemble so that I can 'play it' without the properties keep opening?

Secondly, how do I delete the snapshots from a pre-built ensemble such as Sine Beats 2 so that I can just start from scratch?

o 1: what do you mean with "lock"?
to 2: hit the F6 key, the snapshot dialog appears - there you have all possibilities to save, overwrite and delete snaps!

 

By lock I mean so that I can play the patches without the different layers opening and the properties menu doesn't open every time I double-click a knob by accident. I'm using the ensembles as plugins if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the F6 tip... I opened this window previously but overlooked the 'select instrument' menu. Duh...

Settings, Set Protected locks panel displays. but i don't know a way to stop properties and other dialog boxes from opening ...

 

So it's not possible? I'm shocked!

Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember it was possible in V4. I have searched the web to the best of my abilities and I haven't noticed anyone raising the issue which led to think it was me being dumb.

How on earth do people use Reaktor to perform live when tweaking parameters with a mouse or trackpad? Don't the pop-ups drive anyone insane?

do you mean properties or Hints?

Hints are the pop up infos which you can hide turning the infos off on a Mac it is Apple i. there is also the info icon.

regarding properties coming up, i have also had this occasionally but it then stops. F4 opens and closes properties. if they still come up, just move them to the edge of the screen.

try not to double-click on the knobs, that will solve the problem....
no, seriously - i have no problems with that, are you sure, it was possible to lock that in r4?

 

No definitely mean the properties. Yeah, I'm trying hard to ignore them but I'm using several ensembles inserted as separate plugins in Live. I only have a 13" screen and ideally I like to have a couple side-by-side. As soon as that damn window opens, it wastes a lot of visual space and I really don't want to spend half the gig closing it repeatedly.

 

LOL yeah, maybe my memory is failing but I'm sure it was a simple Padlock icon or something similar in 4. Just seems crazy that such a perfect application has overlooked such a crucial thing...

 

ahh, yes - the problem is, that u use it as a plugin, so the window always opens on the left side and fully visible! otherwise you could follow sowaris advice and just put the properties dialog at the side, so it doesn't disturb anymore - but this only works in standalone mode!

 

sorry, im no help, i dont ever remember having a specific button to lock the properties from opening, but it is possible since i use plugin mode alot less.

 

i don't remember a lock in 4. btw, you can run 4 and 5 on the same computer.

also, i think the properties window opens when you are pushing the CPU.
