A little help with understanding

    Can you 'scratch' with the S2/S4 without the Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software?

    Not sure if I get an S4 that I will be able to 'scratch' with it without having to get the 'Scratch' upgrade/software.

    Can someone clarify this?

    Yes. You can scratch using the jog wheels on the S4 without a Traktor Scratch upgrade. However, if you don't already know how it will be a real challenge.

    It should suffice until you can purchase a set of real turntables and the Traktor Scratch upgrade.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    I have SL1210s so can scratch fine, I just have to get used to the S4 I guess.

    Just want to go digital and as I haven;t done it for a while I thought I might as well learn something new, but scratching is like riding a bike, if you know it you will never forget it ;-)

    So you can scratch with them fine without the upgrade then I guess.

    Yes you can scratch without the upgrade. If you decide that you want to use the 1210s you can buy the s4 scratch upgrade, this will basically give you the timecode vinyl and upgrade the software to the scratch version of Traktor. Once you have that you can use the s4 as your sound card and run your tables as a dvs through the s4.

    This is in the future for me...looking forward to it!
