signaturex likes it when people are rude... even better when they are rude and faking it with-out any indication. not even a wittle ;) ..

does anyone know what boysteves' collated complaint thread was called? i would like to see what has endured and been solved and what has continued to be an issue since his turn to the dark side.
maybe thers some kind of definable syndrome lurking here somewhere. like a meme'

    Meme

Interesting thought there Sig. I did elude to what i thought was a bandwagon effect of late.
My objection is the repeating of other peoples gripes without any additional insight.

A meme would indeed be good description of a notion that gathers momentum despite not having any positive effect and is in fact just fashionable.

well ... without succumbing to the realm of "hokus pokus" we could discuss the percentage of lurkers/posters/constiituants that was just brought up by you and lancealot. .. I often entertain myself with theories on the relavance of the reads/views numbers in the general scheme of the forum energy. < uh oh "energy" more hokus pokus. ... chat rooms are funny business... and meme's don't necessarilly consist of the hokus pokus or the easily definable parameters < of even thier own definition. .. they don't necessarilly have effects -- its more than invisble rhetoric or memories or pop culture or bandwagons -- somtimes I think about the pie eyed piper leading all the grooms into the church of doom-town. or the other direction. or some reason everyone is really slutty or everyone has cold feet.

    Im in then Im out...

So, some responses, some clarification and a few more points to various comments that have been made about my little letter. Unfortunately I don't think this is going to be any shorter than before and once again you are probably not going to like it.

Seems to be true but short attention span seems to be contagious amongst a certain section of the gene pool. (Humour mode off)

I will be quoting and consolidating from other users posts (though apparently that's not acceptable forum etiquette) My responses to these will be in italics.

    1. So the length of time since joining a forum and the number of posts made is the only way of measuring whether what is said has any validity, weight or is even worth reading.

I would rather read 1 post that has something to do with DJ'ing, music and theory, or the software than 100 posts about thongs, fluffy bunnies, or owls and as for the hijacking of threads with the aforementioned guff it's just disrespectful in my opinion. Is it any wonder that so many people don't bother taking part.

    2. Because somebody has already made a point that then disqualifies anyone else from agreeing with it or making it known that that is exactly how you feel about it.

If something is broken or not working right then everybody has the right to say so even if it's been said before.

    3. In my mind it is a moderators job to keep a forum polite, to try to prevent flamewars, bullying or inappropriate language and behaviour as well as some admin tasks. Not to decide what is valid, or to try to steer discussions that take place so that it suits their own opinion or the companys line.

    @ 96k & Fohat

In what way is Traktor Pro an unmitigated disaster in the 1 hour that you had it installed.

    Just 2 examples.
    1. Created and analysed a new collection with just 20 tracks as a test before committing my whole collection, then deleted 1 track from the collection, exit Pro then deleted track from hard disk, reload Pro and consistency check says 1 track is missing, even though it no longer exists, and each time I reload Pro it alternates between track missing or crashes back to desktop. I would say that's a pretty major worry, and it would be an unmitigated disaster if it decided to do that to some part of my 2,000 track collection.

    2. master\slave with 4 decks how?)

    @ other1

If you had read my post it's not worked flawlessly for me so in what way is my long post not really correct? Also if you had read the 1st paragraph of my long post you would have noticed that I don't need a controller as I have accumulated a collection of various controllers and now use a Xone 4D. I suppose the attention span wandered before you managed to get through the 1st paragraph?

    Various quotes from Karlos Santos:

Noting your join date and your post count i wonder if you have bothered, at all , to read this forum over the past 4 months. If you had you probably wouldn't have made that post.
Point 1 and also try reading my first paragraph again and you'll see that I lurk, read and try to learn.

You have just compiled a post from other posts. Regurgitated the same tired complaints.
    See point 2 above.

You have made NO new points and have added ZERO to the concern.

Again see point 2 above. and as for the zero to the concern, whilst not rude I think that its quite a contemptuous way to speak to a paying customer of this software. If as you say my opinion is valid where does the ZERO come into it? It must mean that I'm worth nothing because I don't have a high post count and ain't a moderator.

Whats next , are you going to tell us next, that you have invented the wheel.
Where did I come off as being arrogant and a know it all? Just my opinions. Sorry but another typical moderator comment.

The drinks are on the side, the door is over here > Your choice.
So in other words, if I shut up and put up with it I'm welcome to stay, if not I can leave. How charming. Another fine way to represent NI and maybe a somewhat telling attitude that just may be endemic in the company.

I would not join a forum and then just blast the product. Id read about the issues that affect me and join in.
Once again, try reading my first paragraph again and you'll see that I lurk, read and try to learn a lot from other peoples problems and solutions. Without posting the usual "What's the best soundcard" or "Why can't I hear my cued track through my headphones".

More of a "look at me and my controversial opinion"
I didn't think my opinion was controversial it was just an opinion, after all it's all been said before and all I've done is regurgitate.

Repeating already discussed points is counter productive to the forum.
There is actually very little content in the post that informs the other users about the product.
Is it my job to inform other users, the NI marketing and PR hype machine do a good enough? job of that already. Let's go skateboarding and then have breakfast with Richie Hawtin and Grandmaster Flash. It doesn't need me, them videos do a good enough job informing other users about the product.

Complaining about NAMM ? When did NI make a promise that they would reveal something that HE would be interested in.
Complaining about the often mentioned NI DJ Controller? Why , what purpose does this serve.
I didn't say it was only for me, I was disappointed that all we got was another poxxy soundcard, I also said that I thought Maschine was a good thing and tied that in with the often mentioned lack of a dedicated NI DJ controller and how I thought a combination of both could be a great idea.

    @ Native Girl

nah, waist of time. long story short:

A typical response from this particular moderator. It's always, I'm alright jack, so what you moaning about. Whatever happened to the yellow cards for naughty girls and boys.

    @ Lancellot

The moderator`s first rude comment was not professional and does not encourage the other 90% of lurkers to post or start a new topic.
Very counter productive for the community and ultimately brushes off on NI`s image.
Everything is scattered around and diluted with senseless post count increasing posts generated by 1% of the members.

I didn't really think it was rude but I agree not very professional. The rest I think you summed up very eloquently and am in complete agreement with.

Ok, just to make things clear, I'm not here to troll or to take sides. I think Traktor (v3.3) is a great program that gives me unparalleled control of my music. The days of turntables and CDJ's are long over for me. I would just like to see Traktor fulfill it's potential to become the new industry standard. NI still has some way to go to achieve that, but I'm still optimistic and hopeful that v1.03 will deliver on the software side (I've even re-installed v1.02 to try to get my head around some of the new stuff in preparation for the upcoming release) but to become the one, (as Technics and Pioneer used to be) I still think a hardware tie up is the way forward. It's all up for grabs but the clock is ticking.

This has been fun and I love you all.

Id hate for you to fall into the mode of forum activities that you are clearly an opponent of in your last post.

So..you might consider getting out of the business of inciting such business by continuing the current .... blah blah blah woof woof.

As you have posted and felt and understand and then responded with further combatance... even as logical as it may seem. You should understand that things are the way they are. People only change if they want to.

Native girl might be likened of bhuddah <all things considered.

Having a true understanding (as you say) of the forum and not just once in your lifetime flamejob you should also see a path forward for your information. If like it is understood. 90 % of readers aren't posting then your post shouldn't address the regular posters or the moderators. Even though thats who you are going t get input from.

Chat rooms are funney business. Sort of like doing a really big cross - word puzzle with information taken from rately picked hamm radio chatter.

    good luck.

    Please read my own quote.
And so is mine. And that is all i stated, my opinion. It seems that you are more upset that i didnt agree with you and stated why, than anything else which is hypocritical.

    Anyway, moving forward.

You end your original post with a statement that you are 'optimistic' .
Well in that regard i hope to see more of you on the forum, Getting involved and joining in with the user base in our common goal which is, a greater understanding, and enjoyment of the product.

Ive just returned from a friends wedding and i to am full of love.
