after all of this time, i expected that the sampler module (the one contained within most of the EI 2 collection, for instance) would allow you to actually preview and hear the samples from within the Sample Map Editor...tell me I'm missing something, please!!

The only thing you're missing is the sample preview unfortunately. We're all missing it actually.

    Maybe in the next update...

Man, it's such a drag that we're missing this so very important feature... :-(

I know, this is a feature that everyone keeps asking
for. Yet with every update, it goes missing. Come on,
how hard can it be to add a button that plays a preview
    of the sound?

you know, i am sure NI have tried to put this in reaktor. it is possible that it affected the code of the programme in a bad way.
in that it produced numerous new bugs.

on the other hand i could be wrong;-)

It's a shocker ! Considering how deep reaktor is, I don't think it could possibly be that much of a troma to implement !

jsut to make the thread complete, I will now bitch about how you can't drag and drop samples into Reaktor or open multiple samples at once:

Man! I can't believe that you can't drag and drop samples into Reaktor -- or open multiple samples at once, at least! Jesus!

    you can.
with the reaktor or external browser. drop them in the sample map editor.

I think you can drag samples (at least one) to the sampler image in the panel as well...

The drag about dragging I've noticed is you still can't drag between levels in the structure... but that's another story...

There's no chance that we could actually hear from someone at NI about why they haven't implemented a pre-audition option when importing samples?

Well you know there are a thousand things for them to add, fix, improve.

Just for comparison -- I always listen to and select the samples I'm going to use in a project first, outside of Reaktor.

The only scientific way to determine what NI's priorities should be would be a poll of all Reaktor users to determine what everyone wants (everything)... most (in what order).

But of course then first you have to figure out all the things that are possible, and explain why they'd be good (especially obscure programming stuff that non-programmers will benefit from with cool ensembles, perhaps never even knowing it exists).

well, dfa, sample preview is in the manual. I'd figure things that has been said to work for months and months, but still don't do it, should be fixed as fast as possible.

OK, well that puts in the priority list with 20 other things that are in the manual that don't work or have never actually been implemented. Welcome to Reaktor.

I have to admit, using this approach with a few of your ensembles is definitely the way to go.

It sure does make building a map in something like MemoryDrum alot less fun though.

I hope this feature is implemented before the next major revision. I'd hate to have to pay for it.
