A standard for storing a track's BPM, key, etc

    One thing that would be awesome is a standard for storing track data like BPM, key, beat locations, etc. This could either be in a new file or id3 tag. I think that if there is a standard for this, people would soon be able to buy tracks that don't need any analyzing or grid alignment.

    This would require the cooperation of other companys to make it an official standard but its totally worth it when you consider the amount of time you spend programming the edge cases of BPM detection or dealing with people bitching because they can't get nanosecond accuracy.

    like a standard for power supplies (connectors&voltages) for small electronic appliances: sometimes the most obvious ideas just don't make it :confused:
