I would use the Reaktor version in Ableton Live. How can i trigger the effects via a keyboard in an audio or master channel. Is there a seperate midi input...?

you can simply place Reaktor on a MIDI Track, and route Audio from an Audio Track
    to the MIDI Track.

i've just checked out the videos for the finger. anyone tried it? how does it shape up next to Artillery 2? its certainly a lot cheaper.

do you need reaktor to run it?

So it works as an instrument and not -like Artillery- as an effect. Thanks for your quick answer, Sowari...

There are some Kore sounds which generate their own sounds for (making sound effects mostly), but in Reaktor and most of the time in Kore you use it as an effect.

The documentation has a section dedicated to helping with the routing in some poular hosts. Here's what it says about Live.. :)

In Ableton Live, insert the plug-in as an effect. Chose or create another MIDI track. Click on the “MIDI To” menu on the MIDI track and select the track where the effect was inserted. If there are more than one MIDI-enabled effects on the original track, you must select the specific plug-in you want the MIDI to go to from the drop-down menu below the “MIDI To” selection. Make sure you are recording enabled on the new MIDI track, or are using Monitor “In”, to send the MIDI to the plug-in.

Concerning Artillary II, (and I don't mean this as 'a one versus the other' as Artillary is nice in it's own ways) my own thinking was (I quote from a post I did elsewhere):

"the BIG difference IMHO is the 'heart' of the engine is a wealth of Reaktor-centric types of fx...resonating glitching granular nano nuts on acid sea hunts! Not a 'replacement' for Artillary II per say, more like a brand new playground! If you are a Reaktor fanboy and are familiar with it's particular strengths in crazy fx, Tim Exile has put most of what's possible in Reaktor 'under the Finger'. As I have only begun playing with it i am sure some other 'obvious' differences will reveal themselves after I have finished exploring the presets.

Not to mention in Kore (free player or Software/Hardware editions) you still have the 'morphing' pad/scenes to also play/tweak which includes their own sequencers and arpeggiators.

If you own Reaktor on top of that (which means it's an editable ensemble), the world is yours :)"

I can also confirm as of this morning that the PPC specific crashes (Reaktor and Kore are not working) are happening here on a PB 17" also (my initial install was on my new Mac Pro which worked fine).
