I'm totally on board with op. It's the same as this one time I bought a hammer - it didn't even cut down trees.

this would seem the case however at this moment the software or hardware allows midi out for this type of control for 3rd party apps - but I do believe NI have plans to unlock this in the future... But as for now it only works with komplete - if you noticed you can't even use fx like the mouth or razor vocoder - I'm guessing this will come at some point as well

Ok thanks, I hoped it would work on 3rd party VSTs from within Maschine, hopefully it will be made possible in a later update then.

    Might I suggest Cthulhu:
    http://www.xferrecords.com/products/cthulhu
You can then use Maschine or even Launchpad (including, of course, any keyboard) ...
(I don't know if Komplete Kontrol allows VST's in standalone, but it looks to me like it doesn't so far)

Hi, way too much of a hazzle in my opinion. I have Cthulhu, but use it only in Cubase. Dont enjoy the setup which is needed with Cthulhu in maschine. And I dont like its mono either which makes it not fun to play if I want to play with both hands(clef/treble). Spent time in making scale and chord-presets in Cthulhu since I dont enjoy too much Bach-chords(mostly major-feel). But naah, dont like it. LFOTool is great, the arp in Cthulhu as well, but the chords are not the best. In my opinion.

It is true that I usually use Maschine as a VST in live, and I do agree about the Bach thing (but I programmed a bunch of power chords in that work fine for me. For complex chord progressions Push is great, but of course you don't get the ability to use accidentals for the passing chords in in-key mode, and in chromatic it is somewhat questionable as to the advantage of Push over a traditional keyboard (it's main advantage there is hard-to-play chords (with one hand) which are very easy on guitar)....

But I don't know how much of a tradeoff there will be in the limitations of the chords/arpeggio implementaton on KK vs Cthulhu...

(I use "Midi Guitar" for guitar oriented chords. http://jamorigin.com/products/midi-guitar/)

I don't think Phia understood your question. You are asking about Maschine in the Komplete forum and thus the confusion. This thread is not about Maschine.

yeah, i did kinda skip over the maschine part of things... but B as of this moment we can't do anything with chords and arps in maschine... it shouldn't be long though.. thanks for pointing that out.

I know its not about Maschine, but my question was towards Komplete Kontrol USED within Maschine. So my question is still the same, will it not be possible to see the chord-notes in a Maschine pattern when using KOMPLETE KONTROL on a 3rd party VST(Non NI) in a sound slot in Maschine? Even in Maschine 2.2?

Dont be a politician, this is a Komplete Kontrol question, even though it also includes Maschine.

I think I heard the chords/arps are recorded to Machine with the 2.2 update, so I guess in theory you could record the chords/arps then send that MIDI to a non-NI VST.

I first thought that the perform functions would be hardware based and now I´m hoping they will enable MIDI out so we can use it with other instruments!

Was not clear what you where saying. I assumed since details of the 2.2 update was explained elsewhere you knew about Maschine 2.2 update but thanks for clarifying.

Komplete Kontrol software does not and will not open in Maschine at all and is not needed. Check the Maschine 2 product page on information about the Maschine 2.2 update. As mykejb explained, if you have Maschine then it will have it's own scale and chord features and the Keyboards will work with Maschine 2.2 directly without the Komplete Kontrol software being a part of that whatsoever. Maschine will have all the features without the midi out restrictions plus the features will work with all Maschine hosted plug-ins, 3rd party included.

Can someone tell me how you record automation using komplete kontrol s keyboard inside maschine 2.2

I have maschine 2.2, komplete 10, and maschine mikro

I think the responses are a little harsh as i can kind of sympathise

The advertising is a little misleading for those who are not experts

It claims 2.2 update will boast the power of the komplete kontrol s series dials etc

So far in cubase its a dream

When i try to use just maschine (which im starting to do more) i cant record automation on komplete kontrol s or maschine mikro

Im still waiting on ni since last week

I have been spending silly ampunts on ni since komplete 8

Not sure this has been posted elsewhere or if you've sorted it out, but if not, here's how to get it working: Start Maschine. Do not start Komplete Control or have it running. In Maschine, verify that you have your regular Maschine controller and your S-series keyboard both selected under "Controller". Use the Browse function on the S-series keyboard, which should open the Komplete Kontrol VST browser window. Select something that supports chords. For this example I am using the "Alicia's Keys Big Studio" piano. Once the instrument is loaded, go to the S-series keyboard and hold down the SHIFT button and then press SCALE. You will see the OLED displays change from the instrument parameter settings to the scale/chord settings. From there, you can enable chord mode, select the chord type, scale, etc. When you record, the automation will be recorded.

Also, make sure that the SCALE button is lit as well or the chords will not work even if enabled via the OLED dial setting.

@jfryder60, your response is correct for capturing the automatic "Scales" feature. But I have just received an S62 Kontrol keyboard and installed the latest versions of every SW (including Maschine 2.4.6) and when I have both Maschine Mk2 and Kontrol connected, I can only record "Automation" curves using the Maschine Mk2 HW, not the Kontrol. This is what I believe @MASSIVE MINDSET is referring to.

For example, while a Scene or Pattern is playing and Reverb is added to the Group, I can press/hold "Auto Wr" on Maschine Mk2 and turn the Reverb FX knob and the automation curve will be Recorded and play back the next time the pattern rolls around to Bar 1.

However, there is no "Auto Wr." button on the Kontrol and no combination of buttons I have attempted yet on Kontrol has resulted in successfully Recording automation curves. Even pressing "Auto Wr." on Maschine HW and twisting the knob on Kontrol doesn't work. But live variations of the FX are heard when twisting a Kontrol knob.

Mayby to assist other users you could post what troubles you have had that may relate to other users, or that others have solutions for?

Understandably people get frustrated with things sometimes and feel like venting, but at the end of the day it doesn't really help anyone and while it may have "ruined your life" there are many others that it has helped improve theirs exponentially such as blind users that could not even use most VSTs in the past.

What really troubles me is the amount of time I spend trying to figure out how to do simple things like route the outputs of DRUMLAB to ableton. IT took me 7 hours of trial and error to figure out how to get each instrument on a separate track. But before that I actually completely lost an entire session because drumlab decide it wanted to shoot to 1000000 cpu overload for seemingly no reason. NOW,,,, i don't really care why it happened because no product should ever do that...ever. Its useless and wasted an extreme amount of time just to complete a very simple task. I really need to start learning from my mistakes and start buying anything that doesn't come from NI.
