I have a quick question. I bought the Abbey road drums yesterday, and have been unable to load them.

Once I get past the extremely slow verifier/installer, it proceeds until Midway through the install process, when it tells me that there is "no room to install software". Please note: I have over 27gigs left on my internal vst drive, 6.2gigs on another internal drive, 172 gigs on an external drive. I've tried to install to them all, and nothing works- I keep getting the same message!

Has anyone here had any experience with this? I really want to get this up and running.

Thanks you so much for your time and help!

    :(

I had no problem with the install, but Sonar refuses to acknowledge that the Kontact 4 Free is installed. Stangalone works, but that doesn't do me any good.
I'd really like to start using these drum sounds.... grrrr! :(

Installing this on my PC was a Trial by Fire

Installing this on my PC was a trial by fire. It tested every ounce of my PC tech ability. In the end, it all worked out great, as this Sample Set is a fantastic piece of software!

Let me explain what I had to go through to get this up and running:

    1. My HD space was quite full (I had less than 3gigs left), and NI's verifier/installer refused to complete it's process. At first I thought the installer was the problem, or might have even been corrupt.

    2. So I called NI support. They were great- Very helpful, and suggested I "make room" on the C drive. I couldn't free up enough space no matter what I tried so...

    3. I did some research and figured out how to clone my C drive to the other larger drive in my PC (I ended up using HDClone). Then I had to merge the free space with the clone using Partition Magic, as well as reposition the drives on the boot chain. After erasing the original C drive contents I was all good to go!

It sounds easier than it reads. It actually took 4-6 hours to troubleshoot, clone, etc..

Even after all that the NI install process took about 35 minutes. I'd even go so far as to say that the installer is the slowest I've ever used in my 10 years of DAW plug-in use (especially considering that the 16gig Braunschweig Upright Piano I use took far less time to complete).

But regarding the Abbey Road Sample Set: It's looks and sounds gorgeous. I've been playing drums for 30 years, and these samples are very realistic.

The Lite and Vintage kits are easiest on my CPU.

The mixer controls are easy to use, and well laid out. The randomize works well without making everything sound too randomized. And the GUI is f'ing gorgeous. Seriously, these graphics kick ass.

Not only that, but Kontakt 4 is stable, and glitch free! Bloated installer aside, well done NI: You deserve a case of beer for this one. :D

    Best,
    Drew

I had the same problem with the Part 1 zip file for PC that I originally downloaded (from a MAC). I ended up re-downloading it from my PC, and it unzipped just fine.

When you contacted NI did you email them, or call them? Emailing them or filling out a support ticket is useless: I'm still waiting for a reply to 2 tickets, and it's been 4 days!

Call them, because they do answer their phones.

Thanks, looks like I'll have to call them. I've tried 5 times now to download the zipped files, desktop and laptop with the same result, 'corrupt files' message.

Fed up with it now, I'll buy the boxed versions from now on !

Let me know how things turn out for you. It would be a shame not to be able to use the pack.

I tried 7 times to download Abbey Road Drums and each time the zipped file was corrupt. They tried to help with the downloads but all failed. NI sent me the Abbey Road Drums disk without charge ! So, thanks NI, disk very much appreciated ! Loaded fine and sounding excellent......very retro !
