    Hi All

What is the ABCD boxes on each side of the crossfader and how do they work?

The crossfader is in the middle. I have a track playing on deck 1 and the left ABCD square is marked 'A'. Track in deck 1 plays out of the speakers.

Now if i switch the 'A' off then the track is still playing.

I thought the ABCD box assigned the deck to the crossfader but my experimenting doesn't prove this.

    Your help is much appreciated

    Thanks
    Steve

Manual chapter 7.2 -> Crossfader Assign Buttons

You can assign decks to the left and right side of the crossfader.
If no decks are assigned, the audio signal flow is not affected by the crossfader - only by the channel (volume) faders.

I did read the manual but it did not really work out with what i was experiencing.

I just tried something else to try to see if I was missing something but still don't see it. If I play all 4 decks simultaneously then I would expect if I selected 'A' on the ABCD square on the left side and 'B' on the RHS square then I should not be able to hear decks 3 and 4. But I do. I hear all decks regardless what is selected in the ABCD squares.

    Buggy?

    Cheers
    Steve

Let me rephrase this sentence from my post. Hope this makes more sense:

If a deck is not assigned to one side of the crossfader via the ABCD assign buttons, the audio signal of the deck is not affected by the crossfader -> only by the volume faders.

So the behaviour is like on DJ mixers, where you have for instance, for each channel "A / THRU / B"-switches for assigning the channel to the crossfader. (A = left side / THROUGH / B = right side)

If I read your example correctly, in your case decks C and D are not assigned to any side of the crossfader (THRU), hence you will hear them unless the volume faders of deck C and D are down.

In addition, from the manual (version 2.5):

    (1) Crossfader Assign Buttons: Select which Decks are audible on the left and right position of the crossfader.

    (2) A Deck that is not assigned to one side of the crossfader is only controlled by the channel fader.

no. you're expecting the wrong thing.
it's like solger says - the channels get only assigned with the letter buttons. that alone does not cue them in or out.

I'm assuming at some point you are moving the crossfader to one side or the other.
