I agree, the iPad is a BEAST when it comes to midi control. Animoog has the option to be used as a midi out controller with a ton of scales available. On the other hand... I imagine the tactile feel of the pads on Push with scales would be nice to experience....this just might become a sort of instrument in it's own right.

I think the guy doing the demonstration said something about "going to the computer to do things that are best done at the computer", chopping and editing might qualify as such in their opinion. Personally I look at the PC for chopping in Maschine more than I do the hardware.....but I know everyone doesn't do things like I do. :D

Yeah, they've obviously thought about it. And their stand doesn't really elevate the unit enough to look at the screens straight on (as I prefer to do with Maschine). I just doubt they've thought about it enough.

Maschine stays elevated when it's in the studio - I can see the screens.
I take Maschine out to a gig - I can see the screens.

Just don't see why they have to have it so one or the other is compromised.

    ...anyway that's just my 2c!

Oh my god, what is this? I already gave up Maschine (it's currently for sale) and bought an iPad/Alesis IO Dock/Genome MIDI Sequencer.... nice setup in compare with Maschine...

BUT: what is this? Ableton -my always prefered sequencer (using it since 10 years)- is moving 10 steps forward (after 3 years it was necessary)... but using the mouse was always a showstopper for me, so I tried out other things (Maschine never got me really)...

    I can't trust my eyes!

PS: Can someone explain what "better hardware integration" means in v9 exactly? Sysex, NRPN, custom build user MIDI devices?

I just don't understand why they don't just add swivel screens to these things. Really dumb if you ask me. The Ren doesn't need a stand because you can tilt the screen. If you can chop and move the warp markers with this...... Awwwwwwwwwww ish.

It was bound to happen. NI said lets drop the ball and make it a disco ball that lights up. NI, you put a quarter in your butt.

SO glad I didnt buy in. You gotta few months to enjoy, or you can try to fight back with some features we've all been begging for from go. Either way, its on you. Dont get me wrong, love my maschine (mk1) but time waits for no one.

This is a very nice looking controller but i'm not counting NI out yet. I still feel that 1.8 was a forced update due to competition. The real 2.0 update will be the punch the face everyone has been waiting for.

Everyone here should actually be thanking NI for Maschine because if it wasn't for Maschine showing everyone whats possible with the combination of hardware/software you wouldn't see any of these companies coming out with all these tightly integrated pieces of gear.

Again it doesn't have to be so black and white, I've got Maschine but I still plan on picking one of these up. You don't have to be loyal to just one company or brand.

I hear you...but what really remains to be seen is if NI holds the same opinion as we do, that being- Push is a competitor against Maschine. If Native Instruments doesn't feel that Push competes with Maschine then they won't be in a hurry to change their current product path for Maschine, because whether we are aware of it or not NI does have a planned progressive path for Maschine. Push and Live 9 (from what I've been told) launches first quarter 2013....if NI feels that Maschine needs to be updated to compete with Push, they have approximately 4 months to bring something to the table.....IMO, not gunna happen.

I am very happy I bought MK2. It feels better, and the colours are amazing.

I agree with the mk2. But that push looks yummy. LOL... NI aren't done folks. They will come hard. Does anyone remember the 50th anniversary video for NI and CEO Daniel Haver said "Ableton is not a real dj program." Well Dan..... Something like that.

I love the internet, every time something new comes out its an either or :D

You can have more than one controller/beatmaker..**** i use an R70 on every track i make, maschine didnt supersede that, and push doesnt mean you have to get rid of maschine...just buy a bigger desk, thats what im going to do ;)

Doesn't matter, I can see the screen with both without contorting my wrist?

Akai just tag-teamed Ableton and re-entered the ring!

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in the NI office when the news of PUSH dropped.

    Yowza!

Well, my plan was to get a Mk2 Maschine as I was impressed with Mikro but I think I may hold out now and see what kind of reviews Push gets once it's released to see what it's shortfalls are.

In the meantime though I'm MORE than happy with the £150 Mikro with Massive :)

You know what? I just tested how i turn my encoders on Maschine and i noticed that whether standing or sitting i naturally come in from the sides anyway and so don't cover the part directly beneath the controls anyway.

It's actually quite uncomfortable forcing my arms into a position where they would get in the way.
