I noticed this the past few weeks i've been reading the Abe forums. There is a user called Jesse I think who is product designer for the Push answering questions directly. I noticed a few other Abe's in different forums too, like the beta forum.

I don't know if this is a temporary thing to support the announcement but it does a lot of good.

I thought last night how well they have done this announcement, new website, promo videos ready, prices and everything sorted, and devs waiting on the forums to help with questions. Also, I read tons of blogs related to Music Tech and I don't think ANYONE leaked anything about this stuff apart from Ableton themselves with the teaser video last week.

I supposed they have had 3 years to prepare though :p

Yeah, but i hope there is an option to step sequence Parameters aswell given they have 8 encoders over the 8 pads per row. And of course i hope you can sequence outboard gear and how that is implemented.

If that is done well i might be up for it and dump everything else i have.

this makes no sense how is ableton releasing a midi controller impacting the mpc line?
    ---
this also appears to be an erroneous conclusion based on some abstract logic

the new product is not a direct competitor of maschine or live imo

more just a case of ableton observing the state of the market and responding with a product that provides hands on control

Great looking controller for a great audio app. Absolute showstopper I suspect. Innovative and deep. As a long time, diehard Live user it's totally irresistible. Just beautiful ...

I hope it doesnt compete with Live, rather working with it.

To me it looks like a competitor, for my usage ( i don't sample or chop beats etc. ), and a strong one indeed.

    the ability to:

    -browse sounds
    -insert/delete devices,
    -record / input automation
-record / input clips ( setting loop points! )
-build scenes ( recording mutes? )

all this without using the screen makes it IMO a competitor. No doubt they have had a good look at maschines workflow.

I was almost going to buy a launchpad today too.
Does anyone know if it will replace those?

that freakin audio to midi method is amazing!
    ---
impressed by this promo vid and some functions - BIG time, the hardware sequencer is rad and some of the functions are so damn cool however the problem i will always have is that I absolutely hate the way that Live looks and that will never change!

Is this the beginning of the end for human beatboxes?

I'm really excited about the audio -> midi feature too. I play guitar and it was always more comfortable for me to come up with ideas on the guitar than the midi keys. I use Soundprism on the iPad for generating chords via MIDI :D

i couldn't quite grasp what happened to the beatbox loop, i thought that it was going to get chopped/sliced across the pads - are we saying it replicated the hits to the chosen kit/any chosen kit defined by the user? The additional kick synth module that assigned itself to the kick/mirrored the kick was impressive

some of the sequencing looked great but it also looks like you will have to know and remember exactly what is on what pad as they didn't show what hit was being indicated on pads/is there a screen reference for pad 4 holding a snare or whatever...i was left making assumptions.

I use a launchpad away from the pc, so i can launch clips and jam without using a mouse...theyre going for $80 used on fleabay and are well worth the punt imho.
    ---
I have melodyne and have used this when ive bounced a track and deleted the midi..i had a old tune that id lost on a damaged hardrive and got back nearly all the midi from the stems...i also hummed a synth solo once lol

If you havent used it before its a great tool

Funny now that whenever you open Maschine the loading background picture looks more like Push than it does Maschine!

This is BS. I was just about to upgrade, and yesterday it said $179, now it's $284. I guess I'll pass then. Maschine is good enough for me :)

yeah they announced on their forum that they had all the wrong
(old) prices up yesterday. some dudes were able to go from standard live 8 to suite 8 with a free upgrade to suite 9 for like $50! meanwhile if you own suite 8 like me the upgrade costs $300. makes no sense. they say that for suite 8 owners there will be an exclusive upgrade price but not until 9 comes out next year.
