Absynth 101

    Just booted up Absynth for the first time tonight - in Logic Audio 5.0 as VST plug-in. I'm confused.

    I brought it up as an Audio Instrument. When I clicked it, the keyboard icon opened up. It said 'Autoload' at the top and I played the presets from my keyboard easily. The keyboard looked like the one in the Demo version.

    When I clicked on one of the boxes in the Navigation Bar for editing, a second keyboard come up, this one like the one on pg. 36 of the manual. On top of it was the Patch Window. I was unable to trigger a sound from the keyboard at that point, so I couldn't hear the results of any edits I tried in the Patch Window. So now I had 2 keyboards, an edit window and no sound.

    I know I'm probably missing something very basic about how Absynth works as a plug-in. Maybe it's about the Engine interacting with the plug-in but I don't get it yet. Any help would be appreciated.

    Are there any resources that explain these kind of Absynth operations in greater detail than the manual?

    Haven't figured it out

    I haven't gotten any responses yet and I am asking for someone's help... please! I know this is probably very basic, but I've sat with the manual and can't figure out this interaction.

    Hope a kind soul among us can help... thanks.

    check out the yahoo forum for Absynth - there is a pdf manual in the files section that goes into some good detail (plus there are alot of very helpful people there, including Brian, the creator of Absynth)

    in general - the engine is the second keyboard that popped up that you couldnt do anything with. It kind of just hangs out there as an extra appendage. you shouldnt hear anyhthing with that. You are getting sounds out of the main VST plugin though, correct?
