Absynth 3.0.2 update now available

Hello,
we released the Absynth 3.0.2 update for Mac OS X and Win XP. Absynth 3 users can now download the Absynth 3.0.2 version from our updates pages.

This update includes the 3.0.1 update, details of which are listed below.

What's new?

- One new preset bank from Brian Clevinger called 'Active_Aurora.glo'. The update installer will automatically install the new file into the 'Sound Library' folder.
- 64 new Universal Library files. The update installer will automatically install these new files into the respective folders in the 'Libraries' folder.

Here's a new bug...

When I open a glo file, after closing the "open file" dialog box, I'm greeted with a big green box that covers up the user interface (over the area previously occupied by the "open file" box). Check out the attached screenshot.

 

8 outputs in plug in mode a bad thing

Since Absynth is non-multitimbral and 99% of us do not use surround sound, can a version of Absynth be made which only has 2 outputs in plug in mode? 6 audio outputs per instance was bad enough but 8 is really imposing. Each audio output of a plugin takes up memory and CPU resources even if you don't use those outputs. But worse, in Cubase, you end up with dozens and dozens of mixer channels for just two or three instruments, which is plain crazy and a huge burden to work with. Also, make some way for Kontakt to not use up THIRTY-TWO audio channels per instance. There is not even a screen large enough to show the mixer channels from just one instrument. Thanks.

 

i dont think this is a bug. i tried what you described and found that i got the "big green box" for only a split second (while the glo file loaded) but then it dissapeared. i also noticed that i only saw the green box when loading glo files from different folders for the first time. if i loaded a different glo file from the same folder i wouldnt see the green box at all. maybe there is something wrong with your graphics card or your computer cant cope?

 

My computer is totally up to the task, as is my video card... so off into testing mode I go...

Ok, I found an extra detail: the green box only stays showing if you are on the Envelope window. Any other window (main, patch, etc) will refresh properly.

 

That's one of the envelope window graphics bugs that've been around since A3's release. On MOST systems it's not happening anymore. Is it happening every time you try to load a bank when the envelope window's open?

ok i checked again and can confirm this bug. it was worse for me though because i was getting graphics glitches in the patch, envelope and LFO windows.

also, can you give me instructions on how to do that thing where you capture the image of the absynth window as a jpeg? ive wanted to know how to do that for ages!

Shift/Print screen will capture what's on the screen and copy it to the clipboard. Then, use Ctrl/V to paste it into Paint or whatever you use for editing graphics.

Totally agree, and they listened about Kontakt with the new 8 outputs, so fingers crossed for this one too!

 

Yeah, I was wondering "whare do you select what parts can be used" ? the 6 other channels just arn't being used at all so thats becoing quite unhandy too if you have a mixer from here to tokyo...

with intakt I can understand and it's functional, because you can route slices to outs....

 

Is there any way to get a list of these supposed "64 new Universal Library files" ??
It just doesn't seem like I have that many.
any names at all. because if it added 64 then I didn't have many to start with.

Where can i find the update to download ? I have the Essential and under the download section I could only find a “Titans_of_Industry.sit“ What to do with that one ?

 

Well, the file most have been renamed or something. If found the .glo file. But the update for Absynth 3.0.2 I haven’t found yet.

 

I thought the Essentials shipped with 3.02 as the Absynth version. What version does your about box show?

Yes , you’re rigth. It’s version 3.0.2. But i didn’t understood the thing with 8 outputs. Is the 3.0.2 version meant to have 8 out’s or can you configure that. Absynth has 8 out’s as it is now (in Cubase).

Yep- the normal Absynth .dll has eight outs these days. The 2x8 .dll's there for compatability with projects pre-3.02, when there was a separate two output and eight output .dll.

Is the 3.0.2 update optimized for PT 7.1 on the Mac?

 

I have just purchased the Absynth 3...And awaiting shipment...Does this mean that it will be the 3.0.2 version?...OR would I have to download update?...,
