Here we go again. The lists are getting shorter and hopefully the upcoming update will address the issues. Frankly, judging from those weird shipping problems for Komplete Care customers, I expect from NI all but professionality. But that's only my opinion ;-)

    - not so good:
    • envelope LFO display doesn't show the real phase, so the envelope cursor is not such a great help when it comes to very low LFO rates
    • slider labels are restricted to 12(?) characters although there's more room
    -- bugs:
    • recorder doesn't work :-(
    • bypassed sustain- and retrigger-envelope causes click, if sustain point is not at max amplitude (and within retrigger cycle) - the click appears at the moment the sustain point would be reached - 100% reproducable - workaround: switch temporarely to another env type
    • sometimes envelope name isn't displayed, neither in the the env track nor in the "Selected Envelope" label

Hey, I'm running an M-Audio Delta 1010 and I also have been running into the sticky note problem. If I use the mouse cursor to slide across the keyboard, I can get lots of notes stuck. If I use the QS8.1 MIDI output, it'll stick the notes as well... but not so many so fast. My machine is a single-processor P4, running Intel 1.7gHz on WinXP Prof. I haven't had MIDI Sticky Keys in any other programs.

Not sure if this has bug has been mentioned...

The make-into-sliders function doesn't function correctly...

    To experience...

    Run AB3 in standalone.
    Select "Sleepy Head" (snap 73).
    Right-click the surround x/y controller
    Select "Make into sliders"

You will now notice that the "filter 1" slider is available twice. Leave the AB3 window by selecting some other software application, then drag that other application over the Absynth window and then back off the window... watch as one of the "filter 1" sliders magically turns into a "rez 2" slider, the "vol 7" slider turns into a "F/B Pan 11" slider, and the "rez 2" slider turns into a "vol 7" slider.

Another thing... when right-clicking the sliders to "make x/y controller", the modal window "create x/y controller" opens. I think this window should have a "cancel" button in addition to the "ok" button that is shown.

So, if NI didn't correct bugs from versions 1 and 2, that means they don't know how to solve them ? Or do they keep their softs 'bugs inside' so we should buy a 'Komplete Kare' in the hope of using as softs with their features ? As a Kontakt user, I had promised myself not to buy anymore stuff from NI. But I bought Absynth and am quite disappointed this is still plagued with bugs that were reported a zillion times.

At the risk of being the guy who says, "not having any problems", I must make a few points here.
    1) in general, I think there's too much focus on "bugs". Maybe it's just me. It does seem like some people get new software and just see how fast they can find all the bugs. I Work slow and don't even use some functions, so I don't see them all.
    2) "store to" does work for me. It behaves differently than in Aby2, though. So I thought it didn't work at first. After you click it and it blinks, just click on the new destination spot.
    3) I have not had any hanging notes, slow or fast. Either standalone, or as plug in. And I have a relatively slow computer G4 733.
    4) the things listed as "good" are woth the update.
    5) I complained about the new way of having just one window and no choice for multiple windows. I'd still like the choice, but I have gotten quite used to the single window and with the "f" keys addition (another "good " feature) it keeps the workflow going.
    6) I agree there aren't enough choices for grids in the envelope window.
    7) Aby 2 doesn't load Aby3 patches. Most version upgrades work that way. What I like is that I can load Aby2 patches into Aby3, use the additional effects and patch features to quickly make fresh new patches.
    8) Multiple UNDO is something every program should have, but most don't. I've always loved that in Photoshop and it's so great Digital Performer finally added that. It's very nice for programming and would be nice in Absynth. I think a LOT of people have to keep asking for it.
    9) Mostly, it just sounds better! That's worth the upgrade money.

Even if it was this way, NI should be VERY grateful! But there are people who are just trying to get the most out of their tools, go figure!

    2) 'store to' is explained in the manual the way it worked in v2, that's plain wrong. After I found it out myself, I was a bit surprised that no one did/could point me in the right direction.

    3) I'm glad it's working for you. The hanging notes got less after the 3.0.1 update but still occur occasionally. No such problem with any other synth.

    4) "worth the upgrade" is the wrong measure imho. What is implemented, HAS to work properly, period

    5) agreed!

    6) yes

    7) Oh well...

    8) agreed!

    9) Better sound due to new features, I cannot find that the sound of existing patches has been improved. And there are still clicks/pops/glitches with fast envelopes, esp. with antialiasing activated.

Bottom line: Not only there are still bugs which have been reported a thousand times, there are new ones, and even things that used to work fine in Aby2 are now flawed. And the GUI is ridiculously slow!

So, no, not worth the upgrade until it works properly!

I have sticking notes in standalone mode but I get that with a few other synths too.
What bothers me is that I get hanging notes in playback using Cubase. To me this is a real showstopper. I have a couple of projects in SX2 where periodically A3 gets stuck notes - even during mixdown. I had this with A2 as well and it is infuriating. I certainly dont get this with any other products (NI or otherwise). I haven't managed to see a pattern to when this happens, although the projects typically had more than one instance of Absynth running.

dreamkeeper, I don't disagree the goal should be perfect, and certainly not carry "old" bugs to new versions. I have a lot of different software products and haven't found any to be perfect.

There really should be more small updates to fix some of the known bugs, that's definitely lacking with NI.

I'd really think there should be the ability to "save as..." and earlier version. Most major software products do that. Should be able to save V3 as V2. There the issue of hwo to deal with effects and such that don't exist in earlier versions, but still..

What software or synths are currently backwards compatible though? The only one I can think of is the Virus, where the C series patches will load into the B series, though without the new features it's rarely worth it.
