I did not mention the word "keyboard" but i told that the absynth library was installed by default in C:\Programmer\Fælles Filer..etc. and that i thought the "glitch" was related to that i am using a Danish version of Windows xp

I too am on a Danish Windows XP using a Danish keyboard.
I have also been in touch with support and got a reply - but the reply was about a slightly different problem.

I have written them back and am currently awaiting an answer.

I really can't get this to work no matter what I do so far.

    Danish keyboard......sample not found solved

...got an e-mail from NI support today:

    1. Copy the whole sample directory of Absynth to another place where there are
no special/danish characters in the path. (like c:\absynth\samples)

    2. Add this new sample path to Absynth 5 'sample directories' (menu 'file' ->
options -> general -> sample directories)

    2. Rename the original sample folder to something like 'samples_1' so that
absynth is forced to use the samples from the new location.

This workarround was tested and worked for other danish customers, so
hopefully it will work for you also.

everything works fine now it seems, so now i can use my Absynth 5 the way i expected :D

Hey all, I have the Absynth Twilights add-on for Absynth 5, and the normal Abysynth 5 samples worked just fine exept when i installed the Absynth Twilights add-on, i kept getting an error saying that the samples were not found for Absynth Twilights. Also i've tryed cis-didge's solution for this but it did not work. So heres my solution for Absynth Twilights just in case some people find that his solution didn't work:

1: First Copy the entire Sample Directory

2: Look for where the normal Absynth 5 samples are (when it asks you "Would you like to browse for it?" click yes and a Sample directory will pop-up and thats where the normal Absynth 5 samples are, just click on "Up One Level" a few times just so you can see how to get to that folder). Mine was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Absynth 5\Samples\

3: Now drag the Absynth Twlights Samples folder into that same folder the normal Absynth 5 Samples are then it should work just fine.

Thats how I made Absynth Twilights work, and i think it could work for the normal Absynth 5 when it asks you to browse for the sample, click yes and see where it takes you then put the normal samples in that folder.

Hope it helps and good luck! ;)

I'm having the same problem but this didn't work for me. I'm also using a danish Windows XP. I tried rebuilding the database as well, but no luck. Any ideas?

Will we be able to finally relocate the Absynth sample library in 5.0.2?

You can do that in the current Absynth release. RE: this whole thread.

Right. The issue was fixed with the 5.0.1 update. The only reason why it's still stickied is that the full installers are still the original 5.0 release.

I have a more general samples/presets question. I've been a registered owner of Absynth since v3 and have always been confused about where/if the newer version reinstalls the samples/presets from previous versions? If so, is it safe to uninstall Absynth 4 after installing 5?

    Welcome =)

The easiest way around that is to just copy or move your Absynth sample, library and user content folders to the equivalent places in Absynth 5. Then, start up Absynth as a standalone and rebuild your database.

Should you keep Absynth 4 on? If you have any projects that need it- yes. Absynth 5 won't automatically load in projects that used Absynth 4.

I have installed the latest update to Absynth 5, and Absynth Twilights is not showing up, I have tried your idea, and have also moved it to documents/Native Instruments/Shared Content/Absynth 5, where my Biolabs banks are and those show up. Should I reinstall Absynth Twilights? What should I do? Please help.

    Thanks!

    Welcome =)

Absynth Twilights' patch and sample paths need to be added in your options/browser menu, as is stated in the readme for the 5.0.1 update.

    Hi ew!

I am new to the forums, but I have been using NI for 6 years, and outside of bugs, I absolutely LOVE NI!

I did not read that, BUT : ) I did find a solution. On Windows XP, go to program files/Common files/Native Instruments, then open search and type Absynth Twilights, you will then find the folder called Absynth Twilights with all the KSD's. Simply copy that folder into my documents/Native Instruments/Shared Content/Sound/Absynth 5, and copy the Absynth Twilights folder containing KSD's there, and Walla! You may have to update your database, though I did not, the effect was immediate! : ) ) ) )

I hope this helps everyone else having a problem.

    Cheers To All!

Sure, you can copy the .ksds into your user content folder if you wish.

    Hi ew,

I'm just glad what I did worked, I tried everything else to no avail. Perhaps an update patch for Absynth Twilights is in order for those that can't get it to work the way it's supposed to. Such relief, I am already making new patches using AT in Absynth 5, the new effect Aetherizer and the Mutator are incredible fun, and tremendously useful for some great Ambient sound design! : )

    Cheers! : )

So if we pruchased a patch pack for Absynth would the patches still go into the same default folder?
