I'm starting to use Komplete again after a few months off. I've noticed that whenever I open Absynth or FM8 in Komplete Kontrol or as an instrument within a DAW (Cakewalk), the prompt to Activate/Buy/Demo pops up. These two plugins, and only these two, seem to be opening in demo mode. I click the button to activate, and it opens Native Access, the popup goes away, and the plugin works fine. But I have to do it again every single time. It happens every time I open a Cakewalk file with an Absynth or FM8 instrument in it. Is it supposed to do this? It's annoying and is enough to make me avoid using those instruments. I have a fully paid version of Komplete. All the plugins and Cakewalk are updated to their current versions.

[edit] I have reinstalled Absynth and FM8, and the problem still exists. The prompt window only appears for those two, not Massive, Reaktor, or Kontakt.

If anyone knows how to make this prompt go away, please let me know. Many thanks for any help.

Maybe the dll your DAW uses is not the newest one. Check vst folder or search for second absynth.dll. Then you can move it into the directory cakewalk scans for dll files. Then you can set this folder in native access settings as permanent install folder, then you don't have to think about it again.

Wouldn't that only account for why it does it in Cakewalk? The demo prompt opens when I open them in Komplete Kontrol or in standalone mode, too.

Not necessarily, if they also "see" the wrong dll it applies to all programs.

I wrote to NI support, and they sent an uninstall script that removes all the registry entries. I ran that an removed the Absynth and FM8 registry entries and then reinstalled both. They work fine now.
