I just installed Komplete 5, Absynth 4 & FM8 both say they cannot create new sound database and then simply crash/close (standalone), the vst versions would not pass live\'s inspection process, they crash the program when scanning at the launch of the program and if I try and load the AU\'s they crash live as well.

I reinstalled the offending plugins twice, no change in behavior, used the updaters as well.

macbook white 2.1ghz 4gb ram intel core 2 duo

B42, Pro53, akoustic Piano, electric Piano, battery, kontact and Reaktor all run fine.

massive runs fine as a plugin but will not recieve midi or produce sound in standalone mode, seems to open ok though

    Welcome =)

I'm moving this to the activation/installation forum; something went south during the install.

I did a complete removal of everything from the komplete install according to the knowledgebase instructions, I am going to try to install again another day. I started having problems with live that weren't there before komplete, if you can find out about the database error and post back it would be great, I'm going to wait a few days before trying to re install.

I reinstalled everything and it was even worse, here's the rundown.

after removing and deleting everything I re installed all programs and re installed the library to an external drive.

absynth and FM8 both crash instantly without giving any message, all other programs will not recognize the new library locations and will say " cannot load default setting" and not even open to the point where I can direct it to the new location, also the library location was moved as a part of the re install and they should see it as they were directed to it, they do not.

    please help.

after removing everything from Komplete the second time I am now getting this error message when trying to open Digital Performer 6.02

    http://img510.imageshack.us/i/nipro53error.tif/

its looking for the file "def.p5a"

I marked the offerding plugins as invalid and DP runs fine, but I dont know what could be the problem.

ran apple hardware check, all is fine

repaired permissions & verified disc from startup disc, no problems

    DP 6.02
    Live 6.011
    sylenth1
    Discovery DSP Discovery Mac
    Kammerl Audio VST's
and all other 3rd party stuff is working fine.

    any ideas what?

would really appreciate a little feedback here.

one thing I am considering, I am currently running 10.5.7, I was thinking about partitioning my drive into 2 halves and installing/running tiger 10.4.11 on the new partition.

have these types of problems been reported on tiger systems?

I dont want to spend the time re installing everything if its not going to help.

    thanks

    cannot create new sound database

    I'm having the same problem:
I just installed Komplete 5 and activated all programs. I then downloaded all updates and made sure everything was activated. Everything works except for Absynth 4 . It gives an error message of "couldn't create new Sound Database." Then when I try to quit the program it crashes. It also did not Pass Digital Performer 6.02's AU inspection and is bypassed by DP. All other programs within Komplete 5 work fine.

    Mac OS X 10.5.6

    I've emailed support . . .

it turned out that my problem was in my HD name, it had non standard characters in it, specifically the @ sign, I had used my email address as an HD name in case it ever got lost, my email would appear as the HD name so someone could contact me, once I changed the name of the HD everything works fine

I am having the same problem.

Starting with 10.5.7 after the last round of updates for FM8,Kore2,Absynth and Massive. All say the same thing: "Couldn't create new Sound Database"

I tried renaming my hard drive as suggested, but no dice.

With Macs, there's two rules to follow:

    1) No illegal characters by Windows convention in file/drive names
    2) The drive can't be case sensitive
