I have fallen in love with Absynth. Never have I imagine that a VST-I would sound so good, but it crashes Steinberg's SX. I thought it was everything else. Didn't want to believe it. But finally I ran out of options. Please,...is there anybody else that has the same problem as me? Is this issue known with NI. Let me know please..

    Hi Beetlejuice,

yes, this problem was known from the first version of Absynth, since at the time of the PC release Cubase SX was not released. The latest Absynth update on our homepage (1.3.2) solves this problem.

    Best regards

    Crashing in SX

I also use SX and will concur that SX crashes with Aby 1.3.2 as well.

    Any other suggestions?!?

    Thanks!

    no such trouble here

I am running absynth in SX with no problems, it has some programming issues that I would like to see fixed but otherwise runs fine. What specifically is your experience, under what conditions does it fail so I can try and replicate your problem. What computer hardware are you using.

    Hi Beetlejuice and Sascha,

could you give us the following information:

What operating system do you use?

What Cubase SX version do you use (assumed that Absynth is version 1.3.2)?

When does the crash happen exactly?

Do you get an error message with the crash and what does it say?

Does the crash still happen when you deactivate all Windows animations (Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Settings>Visual Effects Tab>Adjust For Best Performance)?

You should also send an email to our support address with a complete hardware list: support@native-instruments.com.

    Best regards

    Loads of trouble here!

I get horrible crashes with cubase SX and Absynth 1.32. Everytime I open it up the cubase interface goes all crazy (the letters get big interface details disappear, no screen redraws) then to top it all off, I get hundreds and hundreds of dialogs popping up saying "window id 11, error" There is no way around it. This really sucks cause absynth is by far the best vsti I own. This same problem has been there since the start although in the essex alpha I just had the interface problems but with the real deal its a complete crash. It really upsets me because I have tons of songs with absynth from nuendo which I cant do anything with now because they are in .cpr format.

    I suggest using Cubase VST.
Look at all the complaints about bugs on cubase.net and you will realize that Cubase SX shouldn't have been released yet. SX looks great and more efficient - but the truth is that it doesn't work.

I beg to differ, Cubase SX is light years ahead of VST, to say it shouldnt have been released it bull. It is more stable at 1.02 then vst5 was for the first year. Cubase SX is the newest and most advanced product made by Steinberg. Steinberg invented the vst and vsti standards so if Absynth doesnt work with it, its an absynth problem not a cubase problem, every other vsti works fine. I really hope this gets resolved cause its a shame not to be able to use the best synth with the best host.

    Hi,

I just installed XP Pro German and SX with many plugins.
Absynth 1.3.2 is crashing SX 1.02 here sometimes when sending program change. No error message appears, SX is just gone. Absynth engine is still there. I can close it and restart SX.

    XP settings:
    - visual effects are set to best performance
    - optimized for background processes

By the way: The same thing happens with VirSyn, but a little more often.

Even Worse with SX demo for 98

This problem is even worse with the SX demo on windows ME, 98. Can anyone else confirm this? I hope someone from N.I. can download the demo and see if they can recreate the problem

Btw: It's already fixed with VirSyn, so I'm still waiting for a fixed Absynth version ...

This has got to be something that's specific to certain systems. I've had Absynth for a few weeks now, and I haven't had a single problem running it with SX 1.02.
I've seen some talk on the Cubase forum about Abysnth and SX not getting along, but then there are those of us that haven't had any problems with it. I think someone suggested that it may be an issue with certain graphics cards.

Re: Even Worse with SX demo for 98

    Hello SuppaTech,

The Absynth Demo was successfully tested here using the Cubase SX demo on Windows XP.

This serious problem, that you and others have reported, is not unique to an operating system or a specific machine. It should be possible to isolate it to a common component. With respect to this, here is some configuration information from the system where Absynth was just successfully tested:

    Make: Hewlett Packard
    Model: HP Pavillion 7845
CPU: Intel Pentium III 866 MHz (coppermine)
    RAM: 384 MB
    Disk: 40 GB FUJITSU MPG3409AT E
Display adapter: Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controller
    Audio adapter: Intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller
    Display: Samsung 753DF
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Given the amazing capabilities and qualities of Absynth, I offer to you, and to the others who are experincing this same problem, my sincerest best wishes for a successful resolution.

    Warmest regards,

    KHC

The common denominator here is Windows 98. SX + Absynth + 98 is definitely causing the problem here. I've experienced simmilar troubles and switched back to using Cubaset VST 5.1 whenever I want to use Absynth.
If there's anyone here running the SX+Absynth+98 combo successfully I would like to hear from you.

There is of course no one that's going to take responsibility for the problem at this point. Steinberg is not supporting Win98 for SX. Native-Instruments will shower you with warm regards, and Microsoft... well... we won't even go there ;)

So my advice is this. If you've got SX and Windows 98 and are unwilling to upgrade your operating system or downgrade your sequencer, don't spend money on Absynth.

I'd like to hear from anyone using Nuendo, Absynth and 98 too... if there's anyone out there with this combo, since Nuendo pretty much has all the features of SX that I like.

Also ... Anyone using SX 1.01, 98 and Absynth? There's the off chance that this might work.
