    Hello,

I'm planning a small upgrade on my system.. well, 1 GB worth of new DDR and a sata harddisk.

Now, my question is, does absynth benifit from this ? What i mean is, can you have more absynths active at the same time with this new upgraded config ? (as opposed to only having one gig of ram...)

    Hi there,

I've not noticed before that Absynth is much of a memory hog... even if it is, I'd say that processing power is still much more of a factor with regards to your question. All the real-time signal processing under the hood of Absynth means that a lot of CPU cycles get consumed, even with only moderately complex patches. I don't think you will notice much difference with a memory upgrade alone, although I might be wrong (hopefully I am!)

no but i somethimes thought that absynth loads samples too.. maybe in that regard:)

I can run about 4-5 instances of absynth on my old amd 2400hz with 1 gig of sdRam. each channel has it's own effect and compressor and I can still use maybe two other softsynth including some extra fx. however if I start using some complex granular patches it can get memory instensive after just 3 instances. it kinda depends on your setup. but 1 gig of ram is enough you won't notice much more difference if you add another gig or something.

I upgraded mine about a month ago for other reason and saw no difference. I have not ever had a problem with memory in Absynth. Now running inside of Kore, wow...memory hog indeed.
