Has anyone had trouble with installing NI Intakt? I got it today (after a bit of trouble) and wanted it to use Komplete 2. Upon installation, it locked up half way and said I didn't have enough access privileges to continue installation. I'm on an ibook, OSX 10.3 too, and have ProTools 6.2.2.

The full InstallerVISE prompt said -

    Error creating folder
    1008:9,-5000 Access denied error

    WTF does this mean?

This makes no sense, as I've essentially never logged out of my computer or messed too much at all. It means I can't register or even use it for 30 days, and I really don't want to have to send it back and forth overseas (I'm in Australia) for confirmation of anything...

Has anyone had this experience with NI stuff?

    Doh!

Got told on another forum to do this, and it worked!

    1) First trash all the Intakt files that just got installed
    2) Repair Permissions (from Apple's Disk Utility)
    3) Shut down then Safe Boot (i.e. boot while holding down the Shift key...takes a while, don't worry, it is verifying your HD, and then loads the OS without any non-Apple stuff)
    4) Install Intakt
    5) Repair permissions again.

    Time to play...

I tried your technique of uninstalling, repairing and installing and it didn't work. I'm on OS X 10.4.7, so I am not sure if that has a part to play in it or not.. Are there any solutions out there?

    Hi,
thanks for that link. It was interesting, but does not solve the problem. From what I've been reading from others posts, its a NI install issue on OS X in some way or other. Why would the 'permissions' be wrong on only 'some' paths when all the plugins were installed in one go with Komplete?

It doesn't make sense. I had problems when installing with intakt and kontakt, and worked around by dragging the installed version from my old OS X install, seeing as knowone had a solution for the permissions crap, and now, when I try and do updates, the intakt updates fine but the kontakt is not a happy camper... and the NI DFD Extension update will not run either...

Does anyone from NI actually read these forums or is it just users trying helplessly to solve our own problems that they should be helping with?
