Accessibility Improvements wishlist

Hello there.

First, let me say thank you for making the effort to include all of us talented blind/visually impaired musicians to the Native Instruments family. You are to my knowledge the only software instrument developer to do so. One of my biggest suggestions is to please take us and our accessibility needs seriously. By that I means please don't release a bit of accessibility and calll it a day. Sony did that with their PS4 hardware - just the tiniest taste of an accessible gaming console, and then they stoppped as if to say "they have enough." We will never have enough. We know developing is costly and time-consuming, and while some of us may come off sounding entitled a little at times, it's mainly because we have a right to be a part of the world of music, and see the potential Native Instruments offers. We are intelligent, passionate creators just like the rest of your customer base.

Now, while I have purchased an A61 and am trying to be patient in waiting for accessibility features to be added, my time with the keyboard itself has been very pleasant. I have a little usible vision, and so personally don't have too much trouble with installing and configuring things. Having said that, I absolutely agree and support everything which has been said above, especially when it comes to actually getting the software to work. It's hard to havv accessibility when a person still has a hard time installing the software and libraries in the first place. I have no doubt at all I'll have lots to suggest once I finally have access to my A61's accessibility features. I really hope that day will be soon. And heck, here's a personal accessibility plea. Please somehow some way make it possible for Eastwest products to work with your absolutely fantastic "previews" feature. That is honestly a game changer, especially with patches which take quite some time to load. Eastwest now actually appears in Komplete, and even though it's not properly tagged yet, it is my hope that both features can be implemented soon. Frankly though, you give me full accessibility and I'd be very easily convinced to give up my fantastic Composer Cloud subscription and move to Komplete Ultimate. What NI products I "DO" have are quite great.

Apart from those thing already mentioned, is there a way you can integrate Native Access inside the built in KK speech synthesis? It doesn't need to be too fancy but something like a shift combination to open Native Access followed by the knob rotation to scroll through elements on Native Access which could have tags to say if the item is, or isn't installed.

This I think would not only compliment what is already an amazing system, but would also be easier than a code rewrite for Nativa Access which I know is not really practical as a cross platform application.

I wish I could say my first interaction with native instruments was a pleasant one. Unfortunately it was quite the opposite!
Issue 1. Native axis,


I was very disappointed in the minimum accessibility available for native access. Which forced me to get some cited help,
Side note.ocr could not pick up or recognise anything on the application. But by exploring with your mouse you could hover over certain items and a description was read out, which is very limited.

Issue 2. Complete control software
Unfortunately my bad luck continued when it came to this piece of software, As every time I try to launch a sound from the preset browser a error box opens up.
The only way to find out what the box contains is to use Ocr.
The box contains a error telling me the plug-in could not be loaded. And I have followed every step possible recommended from the support page.

I have reinstalled it several times. Located the library or folders necessary in the software. And have done so for each complete control plug-in.
But still unfortunately I have no success and still get the error message.

I will probably give it one more try to get hold of customer service to help in this situation.



Either way if the outcome is good or bad I am glad to see native instruments is trying to make things accessible for everyone.
And I have to commend them for that.

Sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience so far. The Native Access team are looking into ways to make the application more accessible for visually impaired users.

As for plug-ins not loading inside of Komplete Kontrol - the most likely cause of this is that you have installed instruments that use Kontakt / Reaktor player, but do not have these installed. Could you please ensure these are installed using Native Access? I hope this helps.

Hi thanks for the quick response& taking the time out to do so.

I have every piece of software installed and working possible that I have in my native access.
And have run each software in standalone as recommended beforehand.
From massive to reactor they all open up and have limited access ability access.
One thing I have noticed is that most of the sounds do not play when I load them from the preset browser. And the ones that do so still give me the error.
I even got in sighted help to see what the issue was and what popped up when the error box shows up.
I have uninstalled and reinstall every piece of software possible but still gives me the same outcome. Which has me baffled

Please add MCU support for KK S2 and A series, as well as the ability to map all buttons on the controllers (including SHIFT itself or at least provide separate MIDI mappable output when a button is pressed together with SHIFT) using the Controller editor (which also doesn't support KK S2 and A series at the moment).

As a determined person I like to find ways around obstacles that are placed in front of me. So I thought before I get native instruments assistance I would give it one more try to figure out the problem myself.

After several hours of trying different solutions. I finally got it to work for me.
I’m glad it was difficult for myself as along the way I have learnt a lot more about native instruments hardware and software.
And can’t wait to get back to creating and exploring all the different Instruments and sounds native instruments have to offer.
After this post I shall be tiptoeing over to the native instruments store to pick up a few more items.

My biggest request would be to make the GUI for KK more roomy with the vertical scroll on the left side (under ALL INSTRUMENTS. I'm a bit visually impaired, so it's difficult to see the instruments even with minimizing the lists and clicking additional view. Just a fixed roomy view (or of our choosing) would be absolutely amazing. A lot of other apps have a tendency to make things super duper small. I guess its a trend.

Just got the update - sad to see there is no way to expand (enlarge) the interface. Scrolling through hundreds of sounds on a tiny menu where you can only see a few at a time is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!!

 

Just to second that - we desperately need a resizable UI, I frequently switch instruments into their more complicated modes or show the macro strip just to get more room to view the patch list - look at this example where my browser shows the princely total of three sounds.

NI need to do a lot of work on better use of screen space in general, both in providing an expandable Komplete Kontrol window, and in developing ways in which to resize instruments themselves.

 

I have maschine studio and s49 mk2 it would be nice to have the browse buttons work together in maschine like when i hit browse on my s49 which sits in front of me my maschine which sits to the left of me would browse also and it would be nice to be able to hit a key on the s49 to trigger the sounds when browsing like when i browse on maschine and hit the pad how it will play the sound each time you hit the pad komplete kontrol needs that feature bad when browsing with the s49 in maschine if theres a way to do this i would love to know how and if not i think those few ideas would be kool updates for later for those of us that have maschine and komplete kontroll keyboard for me it would be great. thank you for you time.

 

I use KOMPLETE most of the time and find voiceover a godsend. It would be good to add accessibility features to MASCHINE.

Hy , Again, trouble with maschine jam , Again and Again ,... after update 2.8.3 the controller dose Not work properly : When i press Shift Lock to take Snapshots the controller goes in that mode but it Not working , it not taking snapshots, and when i want to exit from Lock mode into Step mode the controller it not responding , the function works somehow but the controller dose Not display the Step mode , it freze in song mode or something ... i Reinstaled the Maschine soft , i reset and clean my mac , restart , SMC resett , everything , i even started the controller editor but NO succes , Please advice , Thank you

I also have Komplete Kontrol mk2 61 , and it working properly , but NOT the Maschine Jam ... Please help me , Thank you

The thing it that the soft o the computer it works but on the controller it get stuck between Song mode and Lock mode .. it changes from Song to Step to Lock but only on the computer , the controller remain stuck on Lock mode or song , i m not sure why ...

I haven't used Kontakt in two years because it requires me to change my 15" Macbook Pro's resolution, or else the UI is unusably small. I don't mean the window's too big or too small; I mean the zoom factor can't be adjusted, and all of Kontakt's graphics are too small, unreadable, and difficult to access with a cursor. It's completely unfeasible in my situation to re-set the computer screen's resolution ever time I want to use Kontakt. In the meantime, I've bought Arturia V Collection and Omnisphere, which both offer resizability. With Arturia, you don't resize the window, but instead you choose one of five or six standard zoom factors. If NI would just provide a few zoom factors, I wouldn't have to leave this fortune I spent on NI modules sitting on mothballs. So I stop by here every six months to see if they've finally brought the software into the 21st century.

What's next for Komplete Kontrol, when are Native Instruments going to start answering some of the Customers requests?
