Acoustic Refractions SLLLOOOOOWWWW?

Hello, i just bought Komplete 7 and a new laptop with Core i7 processor and 4gb of RAM. When i load Acoustic Refractions it overloads the ASIO in cubase on almost every sound. I thought i new system should easily be able to handle sample material such as this. I can load large Kontakt instruments without this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Overloading the ASIO? If you're talking CPU load (an entirely different thing), you've got something screwy going on- my first guess would be speedstepping. Have your laptop's power scheme set to max performance, and have it plugged in.

Is it every Koresound from the soundpack, or just some?

Is it a bit like this:

I tried that patch, Iain- like you, I wasn't getting any sound. Restarting Kore fixed it, though :~

ew, sorry I wasn't clear -- I meant 'no sound' as in, the video intentionally has no sound.

What the video is intended to show (and support have already seen this and forwarded it to the devs) is that certain Kontakt-based patches have a long delay when loading. As you can see in the video, at those moments, Kore Player is apparently 'not responding'.

There's been progress, though -- happily the earlier issue with ALL Kontakt-based sounds being delayed due to Kontakt writing a log file has been fixed.

Thanks for checking. It is a mystery. I've had intermittent issues with loading Kontakt-based sounds in Kore on 3 different PCs, 2 audio interfaces and 2 different OSes...

Anyway - sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread...

 

It is the CPU that is going crazy (It says ASIO on the performance meter in Cubase5) I tired reloading Kore (Stand alone) and it seemed to work fine in Cubase5 for a while before overloading the CPU again. It seems to be some other Kore sounds and FX also, not just Acoustic refractions also overload CPU. I can load multiple instances of any other CPU intensive programmes without receiving this load on CPU. What is going on with KORE?

I noticed that this problem is relative to all of the Kontakt sounds in the same bank. If you switch banks, they load normally.

Perhaps I wasn't too clear in my response. What I meant to say is if you switch banks, the first sound that you choose loads normally but all subsequent sounds in that same bank load slowly. Make sure thst you can see the banks in the browser view and you'll see what I'm talking about. I must emphasise that this is just a workaround. I think this is a bug that needs to be addressed.

 

'Banks' also means 'soundpacks'.

The problem was actually much improved in Kore 2.1.2. In this version, Kontakt no longer writes a log file when loading sounds, which was the main cause of the problem (on my computers, at least).

However there are still occasional long delays with loading Kontakt sounds in Kore -- it seems fairly random -- perhaps every 15-20 sounds, there'll be one which takes ages, but then on another occasion the same sound will load very quickly. I've reported the issue to tech support.
