Three programs appear to refuse activation, NI Spektral Delay, Pro-53, and Vokator. Everytime the assistant tries to activate them it comes back with "an error occured during activation," with a red "Not activated" next to each software title.

How do I fix this? :(

Same error here. Brand new install. And, after it refuses to activate the above, it comes back and tells me that a few others products are not activated-- even though they are.

    Quite annoying.

    Hi,

please send us the ARF file as described at the top of this forum. If you see a serial number entry during the activation procedure, you probably have updated to the latest versions of these programs, but did not request the new serial number which are required. Therefore go to the Online Update Manager, choose Komplete 4 as product and open the "What's this" text file next to the downloads of the latest updates. These contain the serial number request links.

Basically, what you need to do is use Service Center to download the lastest versions, then click on the little info block to request a new key. You'll need to copy and paste the key they send you via email (it comes really fast) into the product info portion in the service center. Do a hard uninstall of service center after you install and reinstall THAT.

Took a couple hours, but it got me up and running.

If you bought Kore as well, install that AFTER everything else, then activate the whole mess.

Trust me, it's totally worth it once it's all done!

So... what's the "little info block?" I'm having this same problem and would love a solution.

Could you please give us a step by step?

    thanks!

    Hi reinwand,

    - go to the the support section of this website.

    - Click the Updates link.

    - Login with your username and password.

    - Choose Komplete 4 from the dropdown list in the middle (not the Products dropdown in the left frame)

    - Now you should "serial request" entries for the mentioned applications in the list.

    - Next to this entry is a "what's this" text file link you have to open.

    - Here you can find the serial number request link.

This problem should only concern certain applications like Pro-53, Vokator, Spektral Delay.

Thanks for the help. I can't see a serial number request link anywhere when I click any of the "what's this" text files. Just a list of fixes.

If a picture tells a thousand words... Just so I can show what's happening. This is after uninstalling and installing the plugs and service center many times- it always comes down to this same thing. Randomly activating and unactivating instruments. Even the ones I get activated will unactivate when I open them- it takes me to the activate/buy/run demo thing and says my hardware has changed. Nothing's changed and these are installed on my C drive.

They all have serial numbers, activation keys, and system id's in the product overview, it's just not happening. I did notice last night that the SNO, SYSTEMID, and KEY strings are not being written to the corresponding instrument in the registry. I could try to manually enter them, but the System ID and Act. Key change every time I run Service Center.

Is there really something wrong with the server? Or is it just saying that?

Trying to make this as clear as possible.

Here's a .doc with pictures and procedure of uninstall/reinstallation.

    www.vitaetmusica.com/Outgoing/ActivationProcedure.doc

Activation still doesn't work for me. I've been working this problem in two threads, so I'm going to proceed only in this thread.

    Thanks.

    My system is:
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    Athlon MP 2100+ (2)
    Cubase SX3
    Apogee Rosetta 800 X-Firewire
Anyone think of anything else that might be relevant?

    same old same old

so after having read that it was possible to install on another machine without the risk of losing everything by having to first de-install from the old machine, (after having fought for months to make use of the whole 600+ euros worth of software, I would never uninstall or upgrade a NI plugin I need to use again) I tried to install Komplete on my new MacBook Pro
And guess what: I got a serial number field in the product overview page of the mad Service crazy Center stupid application whose length of fields do not match the serial number I received by email. Trying to enter that number on the fields just does not work, there are more digits than can be entered!

What is beyond amazing and enters firmly into the field of lunacy is that NI is boasting a new service area "New support area and knowledge base Now Online!" but on this knowledge base there is zero zilch nada absolutely no help on the most basic thing, which is how to even start using the plugins by having the registration work.

The only place where a little bit of information is available is on the forums, and even then, the actual information that makes some sense is the one entered by users, the NI team's answers are imprecise, they make the assumption that we speak with their terminology, that they never defined, and they do not give precise walkthroughs.

    I really hate NI now.

I'm stifling my hatred for now, hoping for a solution- some white knight to come out of the very nebulous dark and save the day. At this point there's no response from NI. I kept reading all these horror stories about people and their installation/activation problems and I was like, come on, it can't be that bad- that never happens to me...

Yet here I am. HELLO!... helLO!.... hello!......
Can anybody hear me?.... hear me?....... hear me?

I promise, service center really doesn't work for me. I really paid money, which is no longer in my account, for Komplete 4. So... at this point I'm thinking that downloading the demos of komplete 4 and burning a bunch of Benjamins in a hiphop video would have been a better option.

I've tried installing on two totally separate computers. On one, the instruments install fine, but won't activate. You can see my pictures and videos for details. On the other, everything seemed to install fine, but they wouldn't activate there either and any time I tried to open an instrument, I kid you not, my computer would flash a bunch of text on a blue screen then shut my computer down- so I don't even know if the instruments work. I don't know what the text said, but I think it said something like, "Et tu, Brute?

Here's what bothers me. When I call support, they act as if there is no problem with service center. I say, well, there are an awful lot of complaints and problems out there on the web, what's up with that? And they say, hmm.

So. What was wrong with the old challenge response way of doing this? It worked great, never had a problem. Some people must be ok with their installations, but obviously many aren't. Something about the service center or the software installation is fundamentally flawed. I think that's also evident by calling registration support at any given time and having to wait behind 5 callers. Has anyone here EVER had to call registration support for any other company? Do other companies even HAVE "registration support?" Let's face it, if you have to have technical support for product registration, you've taken things a little too far or screwed up pretty bad in that department.

I don't have a weird computer setup, I've never ever had a problem installing software on my computer- so I'm really stumped. One computer I can see- maybe there's something weird that just doesn't jive, but two? I start to smell a rat.

Prove me wrong NI. You've got my ticket number, you've got my email, you've got my phone number, you've got videos and pictures showing you what happens when I use the service center. I've tried every suggestion given me by support and I'm still here screwed as ever. Please make this right.

Well my problem was solved pretty quickly, I'm a komplete 4 user, here's what I did:

#1 Download all the programs UNDER THE KOMPLETE 4 TAB. Click the "what's this" tab next to all the registration key items and request new #'s. Also make sure you download the "most recent" items.

    #2 uninstall service center.

#3 install each of the software titles

#4 Re-download the most recent service center from here:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates_us

#5 For the programs that don't activate, go to the "product info" tab (Not 100% sure of that name, it's off of the main menu though, working from memory.) and enter any information that you got via email.

In my case, this got everything registered and working fine. Some notes: Don't expect the service center to see your most recent versions. I have no idea why they actually have a checkbox that says "don't show versions already downloaded" because it never ACTUALLY scans anything to find that out. This tripped me up at first. I think it also makes a difference if you install versions that are not under the "komplete 4" heading in service center. Before I realized that heading was there, I think I started having MORE trouble with program installation than I did to start with.

If this doesn't help you, this is really about as much as I can do, you'll have to wait for NI :-(

    This didn't work for me.

Two things happened. One, the only "what's this"/request new serial number link available is for electrik piano, the rest have readme files on what's new in the update.

Some products registered and opened without the activate/buy/run demo prompt, but the next time I opened them up, they did run the prompt and said "hardware changed." Nothing's changed in my "hardware." Only my demeanor has changed.

I know NI's stuff is great, that's why I've bought it and updated as the years have gone by, but this is too much. I'm sad that I'll have to send this back, but I have no choice- I've got to move on. This shouldn't be this hard or take up this much time.

I'll hang on for a few more days hoping for a knowledgeable response, but I can't spend any more time trying the same things I've been trying for coming on two weeks now.

This kind of thing scares the crap out of me. I've not had as much trouble as some of the guys here but I've had more than enough. What worries me is, 'how long will NI even PRETEND to help with programs they decide to dump (today 'Spektral Delay' and 'Vokator' - what's next?)'. Will they continue to 'assist' with these registration problems or will they decide that they no longer support discontinued programs.

Now, I can understand them ceasing to update discontinued programs (don't like it but....) but what if there's a registration problem on a supported OS a few years down the line?

The way I see it, I've BOUGHT (not rented) I've BOUGHT a piece of software that should last for as long as I use a computer with the the 'Minimum specs'.

I really wish they'd do away with this GODAWFUL registration system. It's a NIGHTMARE.

I never thought I'd say it but GIVE US A DONGLE.

And then give ..... sorry.... SELL us software that does NOT decide our hardware has changed (and lock us out of our work (for a week in my case)) when that hardware has NOT changed.

Or is it all intended to get us to 'upgrade'? As in "Buy this and all your problems will be solved.". Or is that paranoia? But, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I'm still in hell. I got in touch with NI registration support again- this time with a Sweetwater tech on the line. They keep suggesting the same stuff over and over again. Maybe this time it will work! I'm going along with it in hopes that at some point they will suggest something new. I'd even let them remote desktop me if they wanted. Like I said, the fact that my Komplete 4 won't activate on two totally separate machines really smacks of broken shizzle.

I second the motion for a dongle or some other, simpler method for registration. This is rediculous. Whoever thought of basing their registration format on Flash should be fired. I've reduced everything in my machines to be a computer security slut. No virus/spyware software, no firewalls, no nothing. I'm trying to invite flash to invade my registry- which is pretty crazy. So why would someone write a registration program which basically goes against all common sense as far as computer security? It doesn't really matter, though, because even with all that off, it still doesn't activate properly.

    OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Apparently I'm the only person on planet earth who can't get his Komplete 4 package registered. Bummer. They're working with me, which I'm greatful for, but the time it requires has forced me to keep this as something I'll do in my "off" hours.

It's come down to one of two things- 1- my installer is messed up, which could be since it doesn't install correctly on two separate machines. Or, 2, my systems are to blame. I'm willing to accept this, accept that everything else works very, very well on these machines- including NI stuff. The programs run great...in demo mode. The only issue here is registration.

At the end of the Setup Guide for Komplete 4 (pg. 73) it asks, "What happens to my license in the event that NI no longer exists?" Then answers, "Should NI for whatever reason no longer be able to fulfill its obligation to deliver the activation key, it will provide the licensee with a permanent key that allows the user to use the software regardless of changes in the computer system."

Now, if that contingency plan is in place, I WANT THAT PERMANENT KEY. If things keep going the way they are, it seems they should have someone working on just such a solution.

Coming up on a month without an activation via Service Center.
