    Hi

I had to resintall my whole system due to a lack of compatibility between Pro Tools (LE 7.1.1) and Mac OS 10.4.9 (MacPro Intel)

No I have a clean (re0installed from scratch) Mac OS 10.4.8
ProTools le 7.1.1 working perfectly now

The Problem is that after installing KOMPLETE 3 (as a first step to get at the end to KOMPLETE 4 upgrade) the product cannot be activated and I cannot manage activations manually in the site anymore

This is the 3rd time I have to re-install sw in my computer and I reckon that u can only activate twice - I NEED TO ACTIVATE THIS SW ASAP! Im loosing time, money and clients!

I tried sending a "form" to tech support but no answer so far

    any ideas?

    thx

    mmhmmm- been there, done that.

hmmm, good luck - i'm currently waiting for my second activation issue to be resolved due to change of hardware. So I'm in the exact same boat - Brilliant "NI Center SErvice" program, eh? Amazing that this is the system they use for people in film/tv to get there products activated. I'm guessing they did not think this through. Or perhaps they don't have deadlines? Hmmm, maybe the people who work @ NI could have automobiles on the same system! If they use different gas, buy new tires, or different windshield wipers, they would have to use the amazing "NI Automobile Service" before the car would work again and wait several days. Ooops, maybe that's why i was on hold for 50min+ before hanging up. They were still waiting for there cars to be re-activated! Kidding aside, I bought a produce the day before i reinstalled my hd and had this issue again. I'm returning that product. Frankly, i can't rely on the majority of my gear/synths being based around NI @ this point due to there current Activation/Registration interface. It's a shame as the have some fantastic products. Hopefully they'll rethink there cumbersome "NI Service Center". Good luck!

    K4 Activation

Hi, I just spent the whole Saturday night browsing the forum, hoping to find a solution for my K4 activation issues. I have found similar entries saying "an error occured during activation" and the different products remain unactivated. But no solution was proposed in the forum.

I have launched a registration request earlier this week, but without any response uptil now.

After spending that many Euros, I would have expected a more responsive support. Especially for something as trivial as a product activation.

I remain hopeful, although a week of installing and uninstalling the instruments, and a night of browsing the forum did little to nothing to spur these hopes.

I'm having similar issues....had to reinstall after a system malfunction, and now can't activate. My B4 product wants to activate electronically, but when it connects, I get a message that NI no longer "supports" this activation. The Service Center application won't install (it crashes partway through), so I have no registration option.

Incidentally, my serial number appears when I log in at NI. They know I own the product, but I can't find out how to activate it again.

    Unbelievable.

This really scares me. I was under the impression that I had BOUGHT (not rented) K4. I was under the impression that it was mine to use forever. Of course, I realised that there would come a time when NI would stop updating various parts of it (mainly when they want another wad of cash and decide that a bug fix is an upgrade) but I thought that the package 'as bought' was mine.

But what happens a few years down the line when I swap computers and my activation is 'no longer supported'? Have I bought this product under false pretences? I would be really grateful for a definitive statement (preferably from NI - are you there?) on this. If there is no response, then I guess that everyone can read that as "Yes, you're right. Your activation rights cease after x years so spend more or sod off."

It really irritates me to think that pirates are getting far less hassle than those of us who have actually paid for this stuff.

It also irritates me to think that my pleasure and confidence in using this really wonderful software is being diminished by what ammounts to rather shoddy customer service.

I'm on my third day now trying to get Battery 3, Absynth 4 and Pro-53 activated. I too built a new system. It looks like Battery 2 and Absynth 3 are authorized, but the "System ID" in Product Overview relates to my old computer and is different than the system ID my new computer generates. The result is that when trying to authorize these upgrades, NI's brilliant system states: "There is no base product installed." (... and yes, they are installed on the new machine and authorized).

Here is a prime example of a company hell bent on implementing a copy-protection scheme - no matter the grief instilled in their customer base. Technical support can't even figure this authorization stuff out. And email support on issues is piss-poor. I got an email from them stating Absynth 4 was now authorized. Um ... Berlin ....? It's actually not authorized.

What a horrible company to have to deal with .. just aweful.

I also joined the club of non-reactivatable products! :(

In the past I was able to delete activations linked to an old PC, but now I seem to have reached a dead end.

I have problems with Absynth 3 and Elektrik Piano 1.1
Luckily I upgraded EP 1.1 to 1.5 which activated fine, so I can use that one instead (with sometrouble in older projects)

Last year I had to change a few CPUs and Mainboards, for which I had to reactivate.

    First and second activation:
    Pentium D 3GHz + Laptop
    - CPU blown because of short-cut between temperature sensor and cooler
    - Laptop LCD broken...
*** I remember I was able to delete these activations myself.

Third activation (in fact First again) :
    Pentium Core 2 Duo 6600

... this worked fine, but when I upgraded the CPU (nothing else!)...

    Fourth activation:
    Pentium Core 2 Quad

... This would have been the second legal install... but I still have only one PC with a working Absynth :S

The Quad Core CPU still wasn't enough to run my Cubase DAW with lots of VST-instruments and lots of VST-FX.
So, I decided to build a second system with my spare Duo Core and 2GB of DDR2.
Went to the shop to buy an extra mainboard, a case, PSU etc and builded a second PC with those parts to run as a network slave with FX-Teleport.
All software installed well... Steinberg, Waves, Celemony, Arturia, Audi Ease, Korg, E-mu, Bornemark, AraldFX... no problem at all.
Then I started activating the NI-software... FM7, Guitar Rig 2, E-Piano 1.5, B4 II... they accepted the activation on the new system. E-Piano 1.5 initialy gave some troubles but was accepted after a few tries (maybe my fault...?)

Only Absynth and E-Piano 1.1 are still waiting for activation now, while working in demo-mode for only 28 days...

Yesterday I used the form for Registration Support to ask for a solution... But as I read this thread, I understand I may have to wait a little longer before I can activate my VSTi's again... :S

Six days now since I contacted technical support in California and I still have no activation resolution despite several phone calls and emails. They simply can't seem to get me up and running. Imagine. Should I actually have to wait this long to use something I've paid for?

I installed NI Essentials (Battery 2, Absynth 3, Pro-53, Kompakt). Installed with help from technical support. All are activated except Pro-53. It refuses citing an invalid serial (provided by tech support). Installed Battery 3 upgrade and Absynth 4 upgrade - can't activate, still.

You know, there comes a time when you've kept a customer waiting too long. They need some sort of unlocker that will allow activation without following whatever programmatical rules were instilled into the Service Centre application. I mean, they know my licenses are legit. But they keep me waiting while they figure out what's wrong with their activation system. That's not right. What it tells me is that they didn't do enough testing on the Service Centre application before rolling it out. Does that sound familiar?

I couldn't agree more. NI are penalising (and alienating) genuine customers - the 'honest' customers they are so gushing about in the manual intro's. They are doing little to keep those customers 'honest'.

I'm sure that, no matter HOW complex the regsitration and activation now is, there are snide copies of ALL NI software now available to the thieves. Why should the buyers of these illegal copies - all of whom probably paid only a few pounds/dollars/euros - have zero hassle where we honest users have to jump through hoops and wait for someone from NI to deign to respond?

I feel happy that I own a genuine product - I have tried to spend my entire life making sure that no-one loses out by any action I might make - but I am less than happy at the level of 'service' that NI offer.

Today I received a new activation key for Absynth 3 (They forgot Elektrik Piano 1.1).... and it DIDN'T WORK... :|

Last night I had to send them my Support File generated by Service Center.. I did.
Then I went on preparing the new VST-server for work.. added a new VGA-card to replace on-board and an extra LAN-card to seperate networks for music and other purposes...

Guess what? It's seems like that changed a few characters of my systemID!
I think next time when I need some software, Native Instruments wont be a first choice anymore! I don't like to have troubles with a year old, studio used instrument... just because I added some new gear!

    activation problems

I have the same problem with the activation. After ten days 5 emails and hanging on hold for more than an hour, I am at a loss as to the quality of the costumer support of NI.

I BOUGHT KOMPLETE 4, BOUGHT KOMPLETE 5, BOUGHT KORE HARDWARE AND PAYED FOR IT ALL. I PAID BUT I DON'T OWN IT BECAUSE I AM FOR MORE THAN 10 DAYS TRYING TO ATIVATED FOR MY NEW MAC PRO WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE FROM NI TILL KNOW. TALKING TO ABOUT 10 COLLEGUES OF MINE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND ALL OF THEM SAID THAT THEY STOP USING NI PRODUCTS FOR A WHILE BECAUSE NI SEEMS NOT TO BE PROFESSIONAL WITH ITS PAYING COSTOMERS. THEY WARNED ME THAT "IF YOU HAVE A HOME STUDIO FOR PLAYING AROUND WITH MUSIC, GO AHEAD AND HAVE FUN WITH THESE IRRESPONSIBLE COMPANIES."

I particularly think its a shame but I am also seriously thinking of returning all the products especially when all other companies that we deal with have a response turn around of about 24 hours or less even on Saturday and Sunday. A commercial pro studio cannot afford this kind of amateurism on the part of these companies because there is a thing called "Deadlines"

Sony Acid Pro 6 with Native Instruments Kompakt plugin.

Original Registration Tool says "ACTIVATION VIA THE REGISTRATION TOOL IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED!".

I downloaded and installed the NI Service Center tool. The Online Activation Assistant says "All installed products are activated. For a product list please go to Product Overview in Main Menu".

When I go to Product Overview, the Product Activation and Product Details sections are blank.

On Sony Acid Pro 6, when I go to Insert and Soft Synths sometimes Native Instruments Kompakt is listed. When I select it, I get a warning about not activated and 30 day limit. Then Kompakt disappears and is removed from the available Soft Synths.

I've submitted a ticket, but have not received a response for 24 hours. Judging from the other forum message, it appears that I'm SOL.

We finally resolved our problem after NI finally responded. I will post their response below however what we tried was; instead of unchecking the rosetta in the get info pane of each NI plugin as MI suggested we atctually checked it. We then ran the Service center again to ativate and the problem was solved with the exception of Absynth. Here is then their response. Perhaps it will help someone with similar problems.

    Pacini

first install the latest version of Service Center!

    Download it here:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates_us

    try autorizing again!

if its still not working check if the Standalone versions are working!
    if this is the case:

check if your Plugins are running in ROSETTA Mode!
press "Apple" + "i" and look if the Rosetta Mode Box is checked! If yes,
    uncheck it!

    then:

please rescan the plugins in either the AU Manager (Logic) or in the Live
    Audio preferences.
It might be helpful to try the following as well:

    1. move the appropriate e.g. Guitar Rig 2 AU plugin (component) + the VST
version to the desktop. Both plugins should be located in:
    MacHD>Library>Audio>Plugins>Components/VST

    2. restart your Mac

    4. restart Live / quit it afterwards

    5. restart Logic / quit the application afterwards

    6. move the Component + the VST plugin back into the appropriate plugins
    folders

    7. restart the hosts one after one - Guitar Rig 2 should appear in both
    afterwards.
The plugin will be rescanned and recognized by the host.

if you have still no success, send me your activation request file, for
    further investigation!

I can't activate Guitar Rig 3. I just get a message saying "No qualifying base product is registered".

Well it is ... it's on my account with the correct serial. I've not changed any hardware and I successfully activated Kontakt 3. Awaiting a response to my second email.

I received a reply from NI. Their lame excuse is that they do not support Windows Vista 64-bit. So I installed SC on a Windows XP Pro 32-bit system. Helloooooo! I have the same problem:

Online Activation Assistant says "All installed products are activated. For a product list please go to Product Overview in Main Menu". However, Product Overview is empty.

    Very interesting.

When I started Service Center on Windows XP Pro 32-bit system, I was prompted to update it. Initially, I selected Cancel. One time I selected Next and the progress status was stuck at 50% and I selected Cancel. On the third try, the progress status went to 100% and there were additional windows which completed the update.

Kompakt is now listed in the Product Overview window.

I did a comparison between the Windows XP Pro 32-bit system and the Windows Vista 64-bit system and discovered that there were 5 missing files. When copied the 5 files to the Windows Vista 64-bit system and started Service Center, Kompakt is now listed in the Product Overview window. However, Kompakt is not activated. When I try to activated it, an error occurred during activation:

Kompakt Sony Acid Pro not activated. The serial number is already registered for another user.

My Windows Vista 64-bit username is greimanj
My Windows XP Pro 32-bit username is greimanjk1

On the Windows Vista 64-bit system, I used the greimanjk1 username, tried to activate Kompact and was successful. :)

The five (5) missing files were:
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\bin\Reloader
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\conf\Settings
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\conf\TargetCache
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\downloads\internal\LatestFiles
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\downloads\internal\ProductHints

I have the same problem - my Komplete 4 Guitar Rig 2 is obviously not a "qualified product" - thank you.

    STOP THE PRESSES!
    BUG IN ACTIVATION PROCEDURE!

The activation problem has a workaround!

Service Center seems to have problems when there is no C-drive installed!

    Explanation:
The new FX-teleport-PC I've build, has it's system drive installed on drive designator H: instead of C: like "usual".
Why is that? When I installed XP-Pro on the harddisk, I did that with an internal USB cardreader and SATA DVD-drive connected. Those are all initialized by the BIOS, which designates de cardreader to drive letters C-F:, the DVD-drive to G:, and de harddisk to H:

Normaly there is no Compact Flash card inserted in the PC, which leaves drive C: empty....
And that's where Service Center has a problem! It is installed on drive H:, but still it wants to access drive C: for some reason I don't understand... and then refuses to activate Absynth 3 and Elektrik Piano 1.1 when it finds a drive C: with no inserted media!
I just inserted an empty Compact Flash card to make drive C: accessible and started Service Center again to run the activation procedure.... and believe it or not, but magic happened! Absynth 3 and Elektrik Piano are activated in a wink of an eye!

    Problem in this workaround:
Don't start Absynth 3 or Elektrik Piano 1.1 without a Flashcard inserted, as they will tell you that your system has changed. You'll have to re-activate again! Note that nothing is written to the flashcard!
