Hi, I am new to Traktor Pro 1.2.6. I am about to analyze my files that are on my external hard drive. and all of my music files are inside the itunes music folder in my external hard drive. so i go to traktor preferences>data location>musici folders and then I click on add and I get a dialogue box to locate the folder where itunes music folder is and I click choose then I click on the bottom left for import and then I get another dialogue box asking me to choose a folder.

Am I doing this correctly? I noticed in the data location panel it shows the root directory being somewhere in my internal hard drive and the itunes music library in the internal hard drive as well. But all of my music files are stored in the itunes music library folder inside my external hard drive.

How would you recommend me analyzing all my files? And please give a step by step instructions.

I have a macbook pro 17" running OS X snow leopard 10.6.4 and I have about 33,000 song files.

    Best Regards,
    djevon

    so far so good.
    the folder is now chosen!

this import button is for importing profiles, mapping files etc.

    nope.

after chosing your music folder (preferences > ... > add) you close the preferences, then right-click on the track collection icon and choose import music folders.

dj freshfluke, thanks for your reply. So the import button is for say a tsi file for midi mapping? I know I'm gonna need help with this when I am ready to use traktor with my A&H Xone DX. But anyway I figured the other thing around with the help of my friend who is a traktor pro user. and he said exactly what u said. after clicking add and choose the folder where the itunes music files are and then close the preferences and right click on the track collection icon and i chose import music folders. So far it is still analyzing the files. I have started this yesterday about 6pm and I have 33,576 songs. Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow afternoon.

I also have another question for you. Do you know of anyone who has successfully bought a trolley bag/case to fit the xone dx and 17" laptop?

    exactly!

    obviously he's a good friend! ;)

sometimes traktor has problems analyzing such an enormous amount of tracks.
IF (if all is good, just forget about the next sentences!) it crashes or sth, then try to analyze your tracks in smaller chunks of, say, 5,000 songs per analyzation session, then right-click on the collection icon again and choose save collection, then analyze the next 5k songs.

there are some threads about different trolleys and bags flying around here in the forum, search for them. i cant recommend sth directly, b/c i dont have the dx and my laptops only 15" ... maybe someone else wants to jump in?

ok thanks dj freshfluke, I will do a search for it. cause I don't have a car and no license to drive so it would be very difficult for me to haul all that stuff without the proper bags to my gigs

Yes as long as they are not DRM protected. Most stuff these days from iTunes no longer has DRM on it. I get a fair bit from iTunes and have never had a problem.
