well first off I have a volume pedal built into each and every patch. usually it's between my amps and my delays and 'verbs because I do a lot of stuff with swells.

other than that, the first three shows at home before we went on the road just sucked and I made notes during each of those about which patches need to come up or down. After that it was pretty smooth.

Polyphonic hex pickup input--good one. Especially since I'm getting a new custom axe w/hex pickup built-in.
And I'll say it again--I'd like to see an Eventide simulation in GR.

I do the same, but if a patch is way off you don't want to be hunting everytime you select it. It would be ideal if you could use that volume pedal once, then hit a "Save" button on the floorboard, and know when the patch comes back around it will be right on the money. Better still, some effects (configurable by the user) should be in "latch" mode, where any changes are committed in realtime. Obvious applications: patch level, mid-range, etc.

I've talked to plenty of guitarists who agree that relative volume levels are the achilles' heel w/ modelling amps, preamps and software, so I think we'd benefit if this item - although it may seem small - were addressed in earnest.

"other than that, the first three shows at home before we went on the road just sucked and I made notes during each of those about which patches need to come up or down. After that it was pretty smooth."

Ah yes, there's always trial and error. :) Problem is we play some very quiet venues and some very loud venues, so it's always a moving target.

one nasty prob with rk2... needs direct monitoring.. is a shame that you can only hear the processed signal from the input.. would be nice for recording and routing to outboard gear to have direct... still have to use my old soundblaster card to record with.. would love to use rk2 for everything.. anyone got a wiring diagram.. i may yet pull this thing apart..

After seven months of using GR2 in a live situation (average 4 nights a week), I have a few things I would like to see:

    1. Larger fonts. Usually, I have my patches memorized, but the odd time I have to try and figure out which number a patch is, I have to squint and move my face close to my laptop screen to see it. I would love to simply be able to increase font size like you can in most other applications.

    2. "Global" EQ. While I realized that you can set up a preset for any of the EQ's, and apply it to every patch, that's still a pain. It would be nice to be able to use 1 EQ for the whole rig. Actually, the ability to use any "global" effects that are outside individual patches (kind of like the looper does now) would be awesome.

    3. Non-global looper. I like the idea of using the looper, but it's inconvenient that it has to be on all the time for every patch. While I realize some people like this because it allows you to use loops with different patches, for me, it takes up valuable switches. I like to use all my RK2 switches. It would be great if there was an option to make the looper 'global' or 'non-global'.

    4. Volume control for every effect. The "Ensemble" effect has it, why not the Chorus/Flanger? I tend to stay away from the Chorus/Flanger because the signal is slightly quieter with it enabled. I can set up a split to deal with this, but it's a pain.

    5. Better "Wah" effects. I tend to stay completely away from the Wah effects because they don't work like real ones, in my opinion. I notice whenever I use the wah, there is always a fair amount of the un-effected signal present as well, no matter where the "Dry" knob (Wahwah pedal) is set to. Plug a guitar into a real Dunlop Crybaby, and you don't get this. I would use GR2's Wah effects more often if they didn't do this. The ultimately customizable "Wahwah Pedal" could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's hobbled in this regard.

    6. Ability to control more than one thing. Sorry, couldn't think of how to word this better. It would be great to be able to press a footswitch to change/control more than one option at a time. For example, I could press RK2 switch #4, and turn BOTH delay and reverb on/off at the SAME time, rather than having a switch for each. Similarly, with controllers, I've found that the "Talkwah" effect sounds best if you control the "Size" and "Pedal" at the same time. I do this with the FCB1010's twin controller pedals, but it would be great if you could assign BOTH to the same pedal.

I was working on some patches yesterday and realized that I could REALLY use a an adjustable LOW-CUT control on the EQ's. Something for 20 to 100 hz or so. I was rather suprised that there were none to be had. Plenty of bass and treble controls - on the cabinet modules, in the drop down panels on quite a few effects..... Possibly an adjustable High-Cut would be nice too...

1 - A more simple equalizer, just Bass Middle and Treble to add to an amp (Important if you don't use speaker simulation)
2 - Use RK2 as MIDI foot control to use with other software (as Guitar Combos). I think a new drive can make it possible.

If so, a lot of people would be very happy. As with most things NI-related, I wish they would just issue a statement one way or the other as to whether this is feasible. Why must they be so *#@& mysterious about everything?

the Condenser 47 mic being an option for guitar cabs not just bass cabs!!!!! maybe an akg c-12 mic for bass. also an option oto control how far the mic is placed from the cab, and the mics different polar patterns!

what about emulating different powers of heads.. like 70W, 100W AC-Box heads for example. also modifying the ACBox and Tweedman heads for bass too.. and adding the silverface Bassman head for bass too?

these are musts!!! i don't ask for much do i..? :p

I've wanted GR to be a multi out plug since V1,,
That way we could load it up and send multiple amp setting to there own virtual channel in the host mixer. being able to use the splitter works okay,, but some times i find i want more control beyond that,,
The ability to make modules sticky so you can change a preset and have modules from the previous one stay behind would be a great idea,,

1.- I had to made a wood case to fix all the parts inside
2.- I use a notebook inside of the case at the left side and under the screen and under the "Tc Helicon"
3.- I can open the case by the left side throgh some hinges I put in the m¡ddle case.
4.- I bought a 10,4" touch screen tft so I could see everything at everymoment and plugged to the notebook.
5.- I bought a "midi solution dual switch" so could move program just by pushing the marshall pedal knobs (see midi solution official website).
6.- I connect the rig kontrol and to the notebook through a hole i´ve made in the woodcase.

Oh, I forgot, I do not use the speaker cabinets from the Guitar Rig software, I directly send the sound of the amplifier trough the Rig kontrol output, to my alesis amplifier, and from this to my engl 2x12 Vintage30.

It takes a while to make it sound nice. But everyone in my town is jealous of this pretty sound I´ve found ;)

That way you can use it live without the following problems:

    - USB cable length
    - Notebook fragility
    - DImensions problems

How about asigning good-old-industry-accepted midi messages to each button on the Kontrol?.

Why on earth NI geniuses felt like they had to re-invent the wheel and creating a whole new cryptic propietary protocol to control its software instead of using midi.

The 16 MHz DSP running on my old Roland Synth has 10 times the programming capabilities of the GR.

I'd kill for an improved Rig Kontrol. Maybe something similar to Amplitube's IO. Just add a few switches, maybe 5 on top and bottom, an LCD that displays the patch name, a visible tuner, and a second pedal. I'd pay as much as $500 for something like that. It'd be perfect for live use as right now I have to plug in external controllers. Or even just an expansion controller would be great. Something with an extra 4 switches and a pedal. OR, if it's even possible to use two Rig Kontrol 2 pedals via the midi connection, I'd like to see Rig Kontrol 2 sold as a separate device. Even that would be nice.

I'd love to see more real-life pedal emulations in general, but specifically I'd love a tape delay (Roland Space Echo) and a Peavy 5150 next. An MXR flanger would be great too!

In the wake of the new upgrade I think some things may be left unmentioned.
I would like to have more control over the CAB/MIC simulations.
If we were able to "Sweet Spot" a cab to get precisely the angle, distance and placement and perhaps even mic the same cab with multiple mics it would be a great improvement.

The amp models have been improved a lot on the upgrade but I feel like they are still lacking in presence and mid range.
This may be because of my inability to run the software at maximum sampling but it is a real drawback. I have been using Amplitube 2 LIVE for a few days and I have found that it still, even with the changes, sounds much more "In your face" than guitar rig does. Also the gain seems to be on the backside of the tone. My attack isn't as percussive as a real amp and it really alters the feel.I am not an advocate of MORE MORE MORE approach to amp models. If the existing ones could be Tweaked just a bit more then I would be more than happy.

I also feel like you should be able to get the sound of the cab from your monitors. If you could pull the MIC out of the mix for P.A use I would prefer a lot of the cabs without the coloration of the mics.

All this being said, GR still smokes Amplitube on how Accurate the sounds of the amps are shaped. I did say that Amplitube is more realistic but that is not the same as accurate. I have owned some of these amps throughout the years and the models in amplitube SOUND woofy but FEEL much more like the real thing.

And one last big thing. I NEED an ORANGE OR-120 amp Model.
NOT WANT but NEED. I have no idea why the ORANGES have been so neglected by the modeling industry but it is about time someone took advantage of their hesitation. The model should offer a MASTER VOLUME OPTION. The OR-120 and THE OD-120 BOTH SOUND INCREDIBLE!!!! BUT VERY DIFFERENT IMO.

The Line 6 Vetta has a model of an Orange amp as of firmware v2.5, but I'm not sure which model.

Thanks for the reply DARC. I checked up on the model and it was just as I'd feared. The Vetta 2.5 has a simul of a new Orange AD30. I think these amps came into production around '99 and have no similarities to the original designs. They still sound incredible though. Just listen to "The Mars Volta" I can get a similar tone after some tweaking with the AC30 model in GR.

I'd love a delay that doesn't make zipper sounds like a stadium men's room when you use tap tempo, while any essence of a note is still heard. Delay sounds awesome, just tough to deal with in real time... Bixonic expandora, an Orange
head to mate the cab, VST hosting for my UAD are among my most desired enhancements - the soapbox is ready for the next orator! Enjoy, Shep
