Would it be possible to use an ADSR envelope as and LFO?

I'm working on an OSCar clone and this is one of it's features, just not sure how to go about it so any help would be great, thanks.

i think your question is confusing terminology - you certainly can't use an envelope as an LFO, otherwise there would be no purpose for LFOs! i think what you mean is can you use an envelope as a modulator, and the answer is yes, but you need to be more specific about what you you want to achieve.

I think what hes asking is if he can make an adsr envelope act as an lfo, so that it cycles or repeats wnvelopes are one shot triggered modulators, an lfo is a cycle based modulator.

now imagine a looping envelope as an LFO.

I just checked and Oki Computer 2.1 has a loopable envelope and the multi breakpoint envelope can also be looped and used as a custom shapable lfo.

    Thanks Salamander, Michael,

Yes, I'm a bit confused as to what the function 'Env' on the LFO rotary switch is for.

I only have the service manual to work from, and in that it says 'Env selects the filter envelope instead of an LFO waveform'. So i just assumed in my noobishness that it was somehow using the filter env. as an LFO.

I've subsequently read that it is a convenient routing for some interesting effects, but there's no explanation beyond that so i'm a bit stumped as to it's purpose.

Sure you can if the envelope has looping stages...

    Thanks for your advice people.
I've sorted it now, it was just a simple case of routing the output of the filter env back into the filter through the same path as the LFO.
