Hi I have just moved house and my DJ room is quite small as you can see from the photo. I am in need of a set of DJ Monitors (coloured) that would be ideal for my room size and also advice on what manufacture and model that you wold recommend would be appreciated.

My debate is do I go for a bigger set of monitors like 6" + without the need of a sub, or do I go for smaller monitors and add a sub unit to them to add some of that low frequency.. The monitors will be placed infant of a wall so having monitors with a front facing port would be ideal.

I have attached a photo of the room , I'm afraid I've not got exact measurements of yet but you can get an idea of size by the photo,

One last thing the room will be sound treated at a later date, cheers.

In that kind of space (i'm in a similar size space) you don't really need much- but I do recommend getting a 2.1 system if you can afford it. You really want your full-range speakers to focus on the frequencies they are good at reproducing and let your sub focus on the sub frequencies. Also since you're DJ-ing you will want to be able to get an idea of what your mixing will sound like in a club- and they almost always have subs. I happen to be a big fan of JBL- I own an older 2.1 system of theirs. 2x 306P and a LSR 310S will run you about $800. That's probably close to the minimum price point you're looking at for something respectable. JBL is also a loudspeaker manufacturer and their speakers have a very aggressive, yet still accurate sound- like you'd find on a big club system. Yamaha, Presonus, and Mackie also make 2.1 systems that approach this pricepoint.
