What’s the point of hiding their plans anymore? Each day they keep radio silence there is someone leaving NI ecosystem for Ableton or Bitwig.

It is a year and a half since the open letter, and more than a year since they promised song later and timestretch capabilities.

There is a limit in users patience, and with so many alternatives now, I have no idea what game NI is playing.

Well I've pretty much stopped using Maschine (I keep hoping but nope) but am using Komplete.

Trying to work out which is best, Ableton 10 or Bitwig 2. Geist filled a gap for a while but that turned to mush in the end.

I think most of us have worked out that the open letters came to nothing and what little trust has all but evaporated. We've only seen some traction on immediate hardware faults with new controllers.

Keep them silent i say. At least this way they dont lie to us.
I rather have them shut up than luring more people with false and empty promises.

Just my 2. They have done a decent job of telling us what they have been doing imo or just communication in general. If you were to ask Ableton, Presonus or Apple the roadmap for their DAW's they wouldn't tell you. So I think NI have been trying to keep things balanced with giving us a little, but not telling us to much. Lots of options out, so no need to wait but getting out and trying all the new stuff that has been coming out.

They want to get the software right, so it will be in small increments. The Mk3 and KK MK2 are great investments and you can tell they put a lot of time with it. I definitely see that with the software. It's just a matter of when they feel it's ready to be out.

I used to think like that, but now I’m starting to think they have nothing but smoke.

The “we know better, trust us” message cannot be sustained after 4 or 5 years with no relevant software updates.

just sell all your NI stuff and GTFO already. we're tired of hearing it.

was Ableton "open" about what they were adding to v10? no, they were not.

So I guess the real question is if you need a 13 1/2 shoe would you try and walk around in a size 10?
    No you probably wouldn't.

Just one word.. Ableton 10 took 4 years of development with no major updates in software and no roadmap whatsoever up to a point that one could doubt about the company’s future, very unlike NI

I'm tired of hearing this, many of us have Komplete Crossgrades we would if we could. We like Komplete and need to stick with it.

And here we are, two new controllers, and yet nowhere, after these open letters. And Ableton is not bug ridden nor is it unusable for song writers. Comparing Ableton software with Maschine software is pretty laughable.

Finally YOU are not WE nor are YOU a moderator. If YOU were, YOU would have given yourself a nice little kick up your own bum for your language and aggression against other posters here.

NI created an OPEN LETTER bloody ages ago. Nothing happened, we were promised changes, and we didn't get it. If Ableton had done such a thing their user base would have burnt them alive.

Anyway you do realise that Ableton has launched a beta of Ableton 10 and it won't be a full release until first quarter 2018. All customers can download the beta and they don't have to sign Draconian NDAs. That's pretty damn open.

Let's remind ourselves shall we, memories seems to be hazy...

I could also b1tch on about the arranger and time stretching, nothing seems to be happening.. but anyway.

Oh that was written 23 June 2016.

sorry that they're not doing exactly what you'd like them to. use it for what it is.

beyond that, they've done exactly what they said they would do in that letter. i actually thought it was older than that. there has been quite a bit of progress with the Maschine over the past year, with both software updates and new hardware.

The only long standing issue has been that they finally managed to map audio outputs to the DAW and allow additional samples to be added without resetting the routing.

Tons of legacy bugs not addressed not even discussed.

    There were not frequent updates.

They've hardly checked in except when there was issues with shiny new controllers they released.

    No arranger, no time stretching.

If anything situation is worse because a whole load of people signed NDA's to become beta testers, effectively they are silenced and can't even discuss anything.

But sure great progress with the hardware running the same crappy buggy and restricted software o_O. Also even more fantastic expansion packs available :p. Lets ignore the hardware faults on release (at least they are doing something about that). Great job!:thumbsdown:

NI should go back to the fundamental things that make a groove machine is a groove maschine !!!! the best advice I can give you is to refocus on the main tool maschine and now completely forgotten who is the sampler!! I am sorry but the maschine sampler should have been equipped for a long time with the tools found in the battery and make them evolve for the purpose of intuitive use with the maschine controller.

That's very true… but these softwares do what they're advertised for.

That said, that's also very true a company such as NI can't afford to publish a detailed roadmap. Software development is not a straight road, they probably don't want their competitiors to know what they're doing and I guess they want to stay flexible on their priorities.

THAT SAID : there's a HUGE demand of something —anything— that proves things are moving. Anything that proves the dozens of continuously requested features are addressed somewhere.

I think that a closed beta with selected members would do the trick (in exchange for free softwares. Please : NO Free work).
Another option would be a tool to collect and sort all the requests. A simple poll where people can vote for their top feature. NI could add a "selected by NI" or "Dismissed feature. Reason : blabla" to give hints on what they're working on without giving too much.

    Or anything else…

(fell free to hire me NI :) )

Took the leap and went the Ableton 10 route. Maybe the Studio will still have it's uses within this environment (if not I guess I will have to save up for push).
