Ah! I completely misunderstood your earlier posting. If that's the case, it appears that there is no fix other than to have NI release an update that addresses it. That's a shame.

note received from Native Support team...

Opened a ticket last week and received this note addressed to me today:

    Hello xxxx,

This issue seems to be caused by a bug in the current version of the
    application.

Thanks for your report. We have referred this issue to our developers and will
try to fix it in a future version, but we cannot recommend a workaround at
    this time.

    -- END --

No further information provided, such as when to potentially expect a new version, etc. But at least there is confirmation of the issue.

I also am having the same problem - Vista 32, in Sonar, i play a track, press stop, get loud DC click, then audio is crashed. This also occurs in Standalone File Player/Recorder. In Sonar, freezing/Unfreezing seems to help - but is not an optimal way of working with a Virtual Instrument. After reading this thread, I am very concerned that I may have just lost $200 that I cant get back for a defective product - as where i bought it has a no return policy for software. I would hope that any fixes, in future versions or not, are provided to those of us with this problem for free.

Update: I received an answer from support this week too, that the issue has been reported to development. So, we wait.

To be fair, support was very nice to me the second time around. My first experience must have been a fluke, because all other communication has been exemplary

    Same Problem on Protools

Just to add more one to the list, I´m having the same problem with akoustik, and pinao sounds in kontak 3, runing on Protools M-Powered 7.4 cs3, with FTU.

I confirm that I'm getting the same problem. Loud click upon stopping playback, then no sound. Unloading / reloading Akoustik Piano restores the sound, as does closing / re-opening SONAR. Then it stops again after playback.

    SONAR 8.03 x64
    Vista Ultimate x64

Also, this happens both with SONAR's BitBridge and with jbridge, an alternative 32 to 64 bit bridging program that often works when BitBridge doesn't.

    Not good!

I should mention that the Akoustik Piano sounds load and perform fine under Kontakt 3.5 beta on my setup. The problem only occurs when trying to use AK on its own within SONAR, which I can live without.

    Good thing I've got Kontakt.

    Another Grumpy Victim

Just fired off a tech support ticket for this problem,

It occurs standalone when u try and record,

it occurs as a plug in with Sibelius 6

it occurs when loaded into Kontakt 3, and Kontakt 3.5 Beta

it occurs when loaded as a RTAS into Pro Tools 8,

It also crashes my whole machine!

I am absolutly disgusted with NI for their total lack of communication through their forums.

    The product is UNUSABLE!

    grrrrrrr

    Howdy folks,

I have had my own share of nightmaric proportions with some NI products. It seems a number of their programs have issues with Vista and to a lesser degree XP. Maybe windows 7 will be easier to work with.

I wish that software companies would release the EXACT machines they use to write and test these programs on. Which sequencers, interfaces etc... That way if we really like the product we could go buy a machine that we know will work. At least next time we're in the market for a computer we could goto a "Designed and tested on these Machines Configuration Site".

I do realize a lot of us could not afford what they are using, BUT maybe we could. Would be nice to at least know. Since nothing is universally compatable with everything. I'd at least like know what Barn I am aiming at when trying to hit the broad-side of it.

    Happens in Windows 7 also

I to am having this issue, ie...

Akoustik VST works for first playback. Stop the playback and hear a loud pop from the speakers. Try to restart playback and another pop from speakers but no other audio. Yet Akoustik is seeing the MIDI input (light flashes on its front panel.) Only fix is to delete Akoustik from this mix and then add it back... then works for one playback and same issue occurs yet again, etc.

In Windows 7 64bit with Sonar 9 32bit. Note that audio doesn't lock up or Sonar crash, which I think some were suggesting in other posts.

Come on NI fix your product! 3 years is totally unacceptable, either fix it or stop selling it and give users a refund or an alternative.

    They have no shame

That's it... NI has no shame and no loyalty to their user base.

I bought AP based on reputation. And one part of that reputation rings true. The sound is wonderful.

But it's so unstable that I can't use it to do my work.

I will never, ever, ever again buy another NI product when a competitor has a viable alternative.

I totally agree with you my friend, after a lot of e-mails and treads on this forum, NI doesn't want to be honest with their costumers, the minimum they can do is to tell us the truth...NO...they just keep our money . is this a Mafia organization or what?...
A lot of people just download the NI instruments by a p2p software and you ...you work hard to paye honestly their buggy product. As you can see the only way to get your money is to go to justice. We are some NI users join us for this action.

Has any workaround been found in Sonar?

I just sent the following to support:
    -----------
I've searched online for this issue, and MANY other users are having the problem. I cannot get Akoustik to work in Sonar. As soon as I begin playback in Sonar 8.5, I hear a loud, damaging pop (which I'm afraid has done damage to my very expensive monitors), and then I get no sound. I have not found a workaround for this, and notice that the forum thread dealing with this issue dates back almost 3 years! Whats up with that!

    Welcome =)

Use the Kontakt Player to play AP; it will treat it as an activated player library and be fully functional.

And what if you don't own the Kontakt Player and just bought AP for just under $200?

Kontakt player is free. AP plays very well in it...though I use sonar 5 and have never had a single issue using AP in it.
