I've done a quick search and can't find an answer, so sorry if this has come up. Has anyone here used Akoustik Piano live on a Mac Mini? If so, was the internal drive able to keep up, or did you use a firewire drive? I would max out the Ram on the machine to 2G- should be enough breathing room for stand alone mode.

I don't need to do anything else with this setup yet- just run Akoustic Piano - no patch changes, no nothing. It just has to be rock solid reliable and no audio hiccups.

    Thanks for any info,

    Jeremy

It should work fine. The Mini's have 5400rpm 2.5" drives in them. I've run Kontakt on laptops with the same drives, and they work fine for moderate streaming. You shouldn't expect to stream hundreds of voices of orchestral samples, but if you're just playing one streaming VI (Akoustik Piano) you should be fine. If you find it's absolutely not good enough, you could crack open the Mini and put a 7200rpm 2.5" drive in there.

Thanks David- that's what I thought. I use my MBP for everything, but generally stream samples off a firewire drive. I know that new Minis are on their way, but we'll probably need one sooner than they are available, and if ANYTHING in tech is real-world tested, it's the Mini!

    Best,

    Jeremy
