All Products stand alone?

Hello, I got a Komplete 7 and installed it. Everything went fine, but when I start Ableton Live Suite 8 there is a problem.
I got a lot of plug ins from komplete7 like Massive, Kontakt and Reaktor, but some plug ins are missing.
I can't find Scarbee or upright piano. Even not when I am looing for the .vst file on my mac.

BUT when I use Kontakt I can load scar bee and so on.
Now I wonder if ALL Plugins are stand-alone??!?

For most of the included instruments (like Scarbee or Upright Piano), you need to run the 'Host'-application
(Guitar Rig, Reaktor or in this case Kontakt) either as plugin or as stand-alone in order to use them.

 

Ok thanks, "Host application" means that I need Kontakt or Reaktor - right?
Because, I also can not find the application vst anywhere on my computer, maybe there is no vst app for some of the instruments.

Now I have a much bigger problem.
I installed the whole Komplete on my internal harddrive,
started Kontakt in Ableton. Kontakt found the librarys. I checked it 300 times,
but I just can open the Kontakt factory library.
All kind of external instruments (scarbee, upright piano and so on) can not be opened.
I see the instrument design in the database and all .nki files, but when I doubleclick it, nothing happens.

You have experience with this problem?
Seems to be not linked or something like that, but when I re-link, nothing changes.

The instruments themselves do not have a VST application; they are libraries of sound and use, for example, Kontakt. And you can run Kontakt either as a standalone program, or as a plug-in loaded inside Live.

I believe that NI recommend runnnig Kontakt as a standalone program first to configure it.

As for Scarbee, Upright piano etc, once you have installed the sounds libraries you need to Add them into Kontakt, form the Libraries tab on the Kontakt Browser. Details are in 12.3.3 in the Reference Manual. Or you should be able load the instruments from the Browser / Files tab.

 

@darkstar, thanks. Now I know that not all instruments are standalone and I've to work with Kontakt.

I definitly edit the library like in 12.3.3. in the Reference Manual. But the libraries don't work.
Please see the screenshot. For example upright piano. I see the instrument, I see the samples. But when I click on one of the .nki files, it doesn't open.
Service Center tells me that it's activated.

Have I to activate something else?
When I try to start Kontakt as standalone without ableton it doesn't work.

 

So does this mean it works when using Kontakt as plugin in Ableton Live, but not when using Kontakt stand-alone?

Are there any error messages showing up or is nothing happening at all?

Otherwise in Kontakt stand-alone go to File -> Options -> Database, and see if pressing the 'UPDATE'-button makes a difference.

If you haven't already, you can also check the latest updates for Kontakt, etc. via the Service Center or the webpage.

 

Just to check - it's a double-click, or drag the instrument into the Rack.

 

yes, contact works in ableton, also the factory library of Kontakt works, but not any instruments that came with Komplete7.

No nothing. When I click on any .nki instrument, the "loading screen" pops up for 0,5 second. but nothing else happens.
for example, when i click on any instrument from the factory database, the same "loading screen" pops up, but it's loading samples

I did this for several times now. I updates everything i could update, in service center and in Kontakt.

Maybe something went wrong when I installed it. but it's strange, I use mac and never had any problems.
Maybe I should use an external hard drive?

Just for you to see, here are 3 screenshots. one is from my hard drive, the other ones are the linked library in Kontakt and the "files" tab in Kontakt, everything seems to be okay…

... and what happens when you drag one of those Scarbee .nki files form the Browser / Files tab into the Instrument Rack?

 

when i drag and drop, nothing happens, its the same.
now i talked to the NI support, and they send me an application to scan my hard drive, i have to send the report to NI and they will locate the problem. hope that it works that way. before, i will try to re-install on an external hard drive.

how do I use maschine as a stand alone? Thanks! I went to find samples in Ableton and they weren't there so it sounds like this could be the issue.

I got a solution for my problem, it's quite easy!
The problem was: No extern NI Instrument was loaded in Kontakt. But it showed the correct link to the database.
Solution: Yes, the link was correct, for example: drive/komplete7/library there are all my libraries.
but contact can not automatically locate ALL EXTERNAL libraries!
So i had to go to the options in Kontakt, add a new library, just all libraries that are INSIDE drive/komplete7/library
and it works.
So I had to link every instrument on its own. it's done in 2 minutes.

Indeed:

Automatic location of the libraries would need Kontakt to scan all of your disks (every time it starts?) as they could be anywhere and a new one could have been added at any time. That's not really workable. Also, as soon as the new library is installed it DOES appear in the Browser / Files tab listing.

Anyway, I'm pleased that you have now got it sorted out.
