After a few hours with Kontakt, my eyes are shot. The graphics of the text is just horrible, IMHO. please do somthing to make this thing easier to read. I size my 17" monitors at 1152x864, and comfortably viewing all my other stuff just fine, but Kontakt is killing me.

It looks as if there's a just a bit of room to make the fonts atleast one more point larger, and some sort of 3D effect, like a very slight shadowing of the text would help matters. Please, graphic guys, this needs some attention. Please hep me, hep me here.

    warm regards,
    david

i second that. kontakt is the only application where i"m squinting up a

web thing where on a pc all sizes are bigger, but on the mac the type size
    is terribly small.

Agreed, I find the font difficult to read too - pure squinterama.

    yes yes yes yes

Not to belabor the point but YES. Tiny green text on a black background = zoiks.

I run 1600x1200 on a pair of good 19" monitiors and everything I use is legible except Kontakt. I guess they were trying to cram as much as possible on the screen but I don't care if Kontakt takes up more space!

I always find it funny that the program name (the one thing that I rarely edit) is the only thing in a huge font.

    Colours, skinning et all

...Which brings me to question: is it possible to make a VSTi - or a plugin in broader sense - resizable or skinnable like most normal apps? It would be great if Kontakt would allow changing colours or such things.

Then again, I don't believe I know a plug-in instrument that can do such things which is a bit surprising, but maybe limited by the programming standards.

    Yes it is possible.

I have a different skin for Pentagon (a VSTi analogue style synth) which makes it much easier to read the interface.

I think that there are 2 or 3 floating about for Pentagon.

    "Me too"

Of course all audio-related bugs should be fixed before anyone spends time improving the UI. But when that time comes, 1) use larger fonts, 2) allow upper AND lower case, and 3) allow for different color schemes.

It would be nice to have something added in the options tab, to select the font itself, style, point size with-in the browser window. Even using Kontakt on a 15" monitor at 1024x768 native resolution, it's extremely difficult to see the microscopic fonts in the browser pane, without having the monitor right in your face, and squinting to read the fonts. I'd actually like to see the browser have the appearance of Win Explorer.

The browser fonts in Traktor are also way too small in my opinion. It basically looks almost identical to Kontakts' browser.

    Agreed!

Eye ergonomics need to be a consideration. Also, the divide between the browser and the sampler needs to be adjustable. So much wasted horizontal space in the browser.

NI you have given us a brilliant creative tool and now all we need is our sight.

    Cheers

It would indeed be very nice if Kontakt was skinnable.
For one I would like to see the fonts adjustable qua size and color and two I wouldn't mind changing the rest of the control pannels in a nice blue.
NI please save me the trip to the optician!

All these ideas about a skinnable GUI is all good dreaming, but if we want something that's gonna be easier to see in THIS lifetime, I think we better just ask for clearer font graphics. Wanting all this color change, and customizable preferences is not likely to happen without a seriously major redo of this whole thing, and I for one don't think that's needed right now. I just want to be able to read the fonts on what we have now. That's a doable task with the next upgrade, IMHO.

    kind regards,
    david
