The 4D has more capabilities but is a bit chunky and has been succeeded by A&H's latest digital mixers. 4D is still a great mixer but check out their newer mixers. The Xone: DB2 paired with K2s will be unstoppable. It will be expensive for some but ...they won't be out until approx. Feb-Mar 2012 so it's a good time to save up.

BTW, no scratch certification on the newer mixers but you do have it on the 4D.

If you don't care much for the mini-wheels on the 4D, and you don't really have cash for the XONE: Digital Mixers, I would say 92 + 2 x K2. The K2s will give you a way lot more MIDI power than the strips on the 4D ever can. As a fat bonus the K2s will also double up as a very nifty and light weight mobile solution. Best of both worlds.

Then again, a DB2 is cheaper than a 92 + 2 x K2s, guess it depends how much MIDI control you want. 4D is the cheapest of the lot.

I'm not so sure about that ... you can get a new 92 for about $1100 US; I don't think you'll be able to get the DB2 for much less than $2000. A new 4D will still run upwards of $2100 though I've seen them used in the $1500 range. I guess the K2 will be about $250 US so the 92+2K2 would be about comparable to a used 4D, and a lot less than a DB2.

Oh wow - yeah that seems really cheap for the 4D compared to what I see here (which is still closer to its original release price) and higher for the 92 (which you can find on ebay in the 900-1200 USD range, a lot less than what you're seeing). Interesting.
