Hello traktor users. I am new to this part of the forum. A buddy of mine showed me dj setup last night. It was nothing but controllers and a numark nsc or something. He told me turntables are a thing of the past. I took a break from spinning and got interested in getting back.I have two m3ds by technics and vestax pro 05 mixer. I feel kinda outplaced compared to what he had.

I did use to have serato, and traktor. I still have a traktor scratch pro license. I got rid of my audio 8 awhile ago. Snooping around their is an upgrade kit at about 400 for the audio 10, t2 etc. So
    1. Get upgrade kit, then invest in somekind of controller for traktor later.
    2. Upgrade my dj mixer to a new vestax mixer or a rane mixer 56 edition.

I would say I'm a hiphop dj. Not sure with being out of the loop, if hiphop djs are still using turntables compared to todays controllers. Thank you for any advice.

Traktor Scratch Pro. You get to still use your turntables but play digital files from the computer or your vinyl tracks. Best of both worlds.

    traktor scratch pro, definitely.

i'm spinning hiphop and i've never seen someone using a controller only setup in that environment. i'm not saying it's not possible - as long as you're not planning to get next dmc champ, scratching will be ok on controllers, once you get used to it.

but you already HAVE all the good equipment and you're used to it, so it would keep that and use traktor scratch pro. i do!

    ..

    +1!

I personally use a Numark NS7, and spin mostly urban & house.. it's more than adequate for anything from bedroom DJ'ing to club work. The vinyl platters offer up a really nice 'feel' when spinning music; a very nice balance considering it's also an all-in-one controller. :)

    cheers!

I know what you mean. I was on the "I'll never go digital" boat forever and then met the S4 with Scratch upgrade. Best of both worlds!

x2. Whoever said turntables are a thing of the past has never used them to begin with. Can't see myself ever giving up my Technics, not only considering the $ I shelled out for them, but the fact that tactile mixing is how I initially learned to mix, and controllers simply don't appeal to my mixing style.

    Now where's my walker...

Hey! I'm using 3x1200s.... nothing wrong with that... has nothing to do with the music you play, but how you like to be creative my friend! I would purchase scratch pro 2 upgrade software + hardware ;)
