You're absolutely 100% correct. Copy/paste wasn't 'omitted', it was removed! Audio copy/paste is a part of the core audio specs and would have to be manually/deliberately removed to disable it.

    My bad.

The problem I see in your logic is that you think iMaschine was somehow meant to be a full-blown app like Beatmaker 2 or whatever but was crippled for whatever reason. It's actually quite obvious from looking at what NI has done with iMaschine to know it was always intended to be what it is.

Moog may have been successful in the past but they now survive on the legacy and history of its brand name by overpricing their products. Moog just lost $1.5 million just from throwing Moogfest and are now applying for grants to get them out of the hole: http://www.billboard.com/biz/articl...st-loses-15-million-will-it-be-back-next-year

Korg sells mostly hardware of course and now iOS apps as well. They know their customer base enough to know that people who buy music hardware generally aren't looking to replace them with iOS apps. They're doing just enough to avoid cannibalization like sticking with an emulation of ER-1 instead of EMX/ESX which they could have easily done.

Steinberg was a small company that was always vulnerable due to things like piracy and were eventually bought off by Yamaha who is dipping their toes into iOS with Cubasis but the thing to keep in mind is that Moog, Korg, or Steinberg have never had a highly successful and profitable software/hardware ecosystem and platform like NI does with Maschine and Komplete on the desktop. As long as that is the case, I doubt NI will risk losing that by releasing all their full-blown tools as iPad apps which are priced at a fraction of what they sell in the desktop ecosystem. NI is capable of blowing away everything by jumping into iOS with full force if they choose to do so. It's just not in their interest to do that, as of yet.

Cute. But no, that's not how it works. Not implementing something that is part of the core audio spec ≠ removing a feature.

So why does N.I. not know this? I know that iMaschine could never replace Maschine and Komplete and would not expect it to. What I would expect and demand would be basic functionality such as core midi and audio copy/paste. Omitting and/or removing those features is silly.

I know, I know it was not designed for that. I keep forgetting. Hopefully N.I. will revise and improve on their design. At least this update lets us know that iMaschine is still being developed.

Not sure if you read the article or are just reaching for straws, but it in no way indicates Moog is in financial trouble. So they lost 1.5 million putting on a festival. Happens all the time.

Bottom-line is Moog is one of the most successful music tech. companies of all time. They are legendary. To even suggest that they are not shows an almost unbelievable level of naiveté. They have stood the test of time because they are innovative and have earned their stellar reputation. Their brilliant design skills are also evident on their IOS apps Animoog and Filtatron. I don't think they are overpriced either. In fact, the brilliant Sub Phatty is less than $900: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...g&matchtype=&gclid=CJP58uyoxb4CFZBxOgodOTkAOg
