An update on the future of the Sequencer

Ok, but all I see in the OP is a discussion about sequencer and the export facility. Regardless I babble too much.. cheers..

 

but why is it not possible (sice years) to copy the name of a scene while copying a scene in the projekt. and why is the button of a deleted scene emty/unlighted in the controller ..not very useful for liveperformance...

 

Mutes per pattern please

Maschine inspires me to just jam out one big pattern.

I'd like to copy that pattern a bunch of times and try out different combinations of tracks through mutes.

Then arrange my patterns accordingly.

I have the other hardware and software box

 

Regarding the Song Layer the idea of being able to record performances into it in the future: I'd love to see it implemented along with the idea of a "Song Layout Bank" allowing me to save multiple complete song layout variations in the same project (only being able to have one selected at a time), and with performance recording that would allow me to record multiple performances without overwriting the previous one.

 

Did you try the 2.4.7 update? It has mono audio input support and mono apply option in the sampler.

It would be really interesting if in the future you could choose to have events in the Song Clip add to any overlapping Patterns from the same Group.

This could be especially nice for modulation. Imagine that you have some kind of “cyclic” modulation for a specific parameter recorded in a Pattern. You could then have this Pattern repeat in a Scene, and make the same parameter sweep across multiple repeats of that pattern by adding modulation for it in a Song Clip.

The Song clips overtaking patterns is needed for sanity and easy predictable workflow. Would be uncontrollable chaos without it. Instead, you would record you patterns to song layer and then overdub on top of that in the song layer.

 

I don't see why it couldn't be a clip option, defaulting to overriding.

 

I agree overriding should be the default, but there is no reasing why adding as a future option would be “uncontrollable”.

Combining within-pattern and across-pattern modulation by adding them up could work beautifully and entirely intuitive.

The same goes for adding a few note events in a Song Clip to create minor variations of to add a quick fill to an arrangement.

 

The only downside of NI laying out the future of the sequencer like this is ever since I've read this I'm making all my new projects in anticipation of the update and not based on the current limitations.

The new sequencer almost seems like it was made especially for me, and I'm imagining its gonna fit right into my workflow perfectly, because I tend to compose very short patterns 1-2 bar loops, and then duplicate and iterate on that basic loop. Once I'm able to extend a scene of 1 bar patterns to say 8 bars, and then easily swap out one of my embellished patterns at the 8th bar, that's gonna change my life.

And now that I know that, I'm not even interested in working around the issue, I'm making projects in anticipation, and just setting them up for when the new sequencer drops.

They better not pull a fast on on me haha

 

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, unless there are 1,2,4,8,16,or 32 of them.

 

I could care less about the future of their half-baked sequencer when I already own Live, and Maschine requires a DAW if it is used in anything resembling a professional environment. Let me route everything into my DAW easily and seamlessly.

 

OK.

1) Some want DAW integration without Maschine sequencer (currently not available). e.g. Sequencer OFF button.
2) Some want improved DAW integration with (poor) Maschine sequencer (and some in addition want to have a sequencer improvements).
3) Some want to use Maschine standalone without DAW (or just sync up with a DAW), with a much better sequencer.
4) Some think it's all in the head and do loop de loop and say everything is great and the issues are all being made up by haters.
5) Some nutters want to turn Maschine into a DAW (not in the specs).

Is it greedy not to want the first three? Or must one pick, choose and battle over each of them ?? I just want to use it every way possible (within the parameters it was sold).

Why would Dysanfel have to move to a different platform. How about getting NI to correct the **** ups they've done to Maschine with the 2.0 update??? At the very least open their mouths and address the DAW Integration issue with a plan or a simple "we will never do it". They sold Maschine as fully daw integrated and THEY changed this. How about a simple answer instead of a 3 year dodge?

 

Man this has been an issue for me for the longest... I bought the maschine based on their integration propaganda and was satisfied up until 2.0 and my maschine has sat unplugged ever since. The use of it as a plugin that could see all my plugins even if they where au,vst, or rtas was a big sell because some plugins made you chose one or the other... But being able to route so many maschines inside maschine and your daw, was wonderful and not a trigonometry problem that you couldn't solve. And then it was gone without warning or reason... Why man why???? lol really should be !!!!

 

Don't know. Ask florian about that. I made the suggestion because I assumed the user uses ableton and it didn't seem like they had push.
