    Please make it so.
I will never have an apple device but have all n.i products.
Is it some deal with apple stopping this?
I also read something about maybe laytency issues with android,
but still, sketching out ideas while on holiday or break at work
would be awsome to then actually transfer to the real maschine and then
    mix down at the studio.
I beg of you n.i bring the mobile maschine app to android.
    ---
May I add the reason I dont like apple is they are closed and over priced.
When you cant send a jpeg or an mp3 from an iphone to another phone
It makes me think. No thankyou.

Nope. It's the AndroidOS stopping it (or, to be more accurate, a lack of a decent API).

lol You can "send a jpeg or an mp3 from an iphone to another phone" just fine. You're better off letting go of the irrational Apple-hate if you want to enjoy the mobile touchscreen world of music making. If you think Google isn't as closed whenever it suits them, just as it has done with previous versions of Android by no longer making them open source, you're fooling yourself. As far as openness, consider that most of the best browsers on the market today, including from Google, Nokia and Palm, are based on Apple’s WebKit, an open source browser engine developed and supported by Apple. And as for "overpriced", look no further than all the copy cat tablets (other than extremely crippled and deficient devices like Kindle Fire) that still charge as much as the iPad yet only have a fraction of the capability or the number of quality apps as the iPad.

I wouldn't call it irrational. I would call it first hand experiance.
my wife had an iphone. I could see the iphone, the iphone refused
to send anything. I have used macs on many accasions and the power
under the bonnet can be got at a fraction of the price with pcs.
Anyhows music and phones are a different story.
I have pro studio equipment and make music with this stuff.
I have a sony xperia s and it is an awesome smartphone.
Now I would never think to use a phone to do anything musical, its
like playing with a toy. But the seamless intergration of the maschine app
with the real maschine, to me is the only thing I have seen where your
not wasting your time with sketches of musical ideas which otherwise
is just a time wasting gimmick on a phone. Apart from things like
touchosc where your phone can be a nifty controller for your real gear.

Seems like your best interest would be to keep using your

and leave the mobile computing to those who want to use it.

Sorry. That does come accross a little bad.
I think all of it is well good. Love to mess with it but know it will
Frustrate me to have a cool idea stuck in a phone. Dont think anything
Does a propper midi export function?

But the only app that seems to bridge the gap between the pocket studio
    and real thingis imaschine, no?

Well my bigger hands makes me an iPad user more so than iPhone or iPod Touch.
The thing is when I first got my iPad 2 I jumped on a lot of APPs and while they do what they claim I realized the whole work on a mobile device isn't right for me.

Now with a couple of years of ownership it's pretty much a mobile toy that I check email and surf with.

I just find that using one of my laptops still suits me better.

The mobile computing thing is pretty tough since you have to design for your users and your users are based on your design.

Apple has always been masterful at building a dedicated user base and the APP store shows this is still happening with the new products as well.

The Android system had some initial speed bumps that many users were unsatisfied with how they were handled.
Then there was the limitations in features to various venders which made for devices that were inconsistent and made users look elsewhere for products.

Even now the Android system has improved a lot but it's not going to catch where iOS has manged to get or is currently promising to add.

It's hard to convince a product vendor to go Android instead of iOS.

Looks that maybe I will have an apple device at somepoint then.
unless the android operating system gets sorted. Hmmmm
The creative play is too string a pull.

MIDI/Audio export/sync is quite commonplace nowadays in most serious iOS music apps.

Garageband is a powerful mobile sketchpad that integrates with Logic. I would also recommend Nanostudio and Beatmaker2.

More relevant iPad apps mentioned here:

    Thanks for the info.
My set up at the studio consists of (pc based)
    Cubase
    Ni komplete
    Virus ti2
Sonic Core Scope xite-1 (german dsp audio interface)
    Mackie hr824 mk2
Few mics, midi keyboard, nanopad, etc

And I have Maschine which I have at home and take to the studio.

And then I got myself a smartphone.

Now with the similar idea of having maschine at home to sketch out
ideas which I can then take to the studio I then thought oh yeah
ni do this maschine app that projects can be loaded into maschine
meaning that one can sketch little ideas on holiday or say on a lunch
break etc but to my horror it was only on iOS. Damn.
Maybe I will have to get a iPod touch just for iMaschine, as for me, and
as fun and cool all these other apps might be and are, the only really
useful one for how I have my musical making world set up is iMaschine
    and apps like touchosc.

yeah at least with the new samsung galaxy s3 coming out the iphone 4s could get even cheaper. bear in mind i was scoping the iphone about 5-6 months ago and it is already 10 pound a month cheaper before the release of this next offering on android.currently about 30 per month. i am looking at picking one up in august so could drop down further by then.

I would agree with the above question, why no Maschine for Android? I mean new phones are coming out all the time, ( take the Galaxy SIII) with massive massive processor and video chip changes that help with overall phone stability. I guess my question is, is this a no go question forever or right now? The advances being made make it seem stupid not to try to appeal to the masses. Why not appeal to both markets? The Iphone 5 may end up being an option for me after all.

Dude, have you even read the previous responses OR any of the multiple posts on the subject? It has nothing to do with the speed of the hardware. There is NO low latency audio support in the kernel in android.

This is entirely Google's fault. You will not find ONE performance-capable audio app on android for this reason. You can't lay down a beat with 100ms of latency.

you can, you can get 5 ms latency on an android app..

but you have to develop a audio driver into your app, the default one is crap

It's a lot more complex than that. For starters, there's the audio driver for the actual hardware and the scheduling for that. Add into it the way that Android executes apps as a dalvik vm and the actual lack of an NDK/API for low latency audio.

Sure, someone can develop an app at a very low level, along with a driver, and burn you a custom rom with recompiled pulseaudio and you can go through a TON of BS.

Or you can just buy an iPad or iPhone and reap the rewards of Apple caring about you and developing CoreAudio. Or hell, wait for the windows 8 tablets, they're not even out yet and there's low latency audio.

I half wish this forum shitcanned any posts with "android" because it's the same rehashed arguments.

Seems the Jellybean (4.1) builds drop latency down to 50ms. I'll be buying a Nexus 7 in hopes they get this squared away, then I'll be able to go back to android.
