Many thanks for your efforts in helping to make this happen, Keir - very much appreciated and thank you for the soundpacks.

I now just need a bit of help in deciding which ones to go for....

So help me out, folks; besides Kore, I already have Komplete 7 and I have Maschine.

I'm thinking 'North India' and 'True Strike Tension', but what to get for the third pack?

So, with the other stuff I have, what is going to be something a bit different here? Any suggestions greatfully received :)

THANKS TO EVERYONE AT NI making this "farewell" possible :D

i have not yet received the newsletter and i am eagerly waiting at my computer :)

@gary_w: north india is really cool, i recommend a midi controller keyboard w/o weighted keys, its much harder to play on a digital piano ... :p

i will get the true strike tensions as well (that i wanted to buy with my voucher from komplete 7 just before they discontinued kore), and the deep freq and deep reconstructions probably.

Thanks Keir - this softens the blow a bit. I've got a couple of 25 euro vouchers left from previous purchases; can I use these to purchase additional packs at a reduced rate? If so then at that price I reckon they're worth it even with the limited support.

This closes the deal, then, so we may as well move along with it all.

I guess this is a reasonable thing to do, as NI probably has to pay the author's a royalty even if they give things away.

I have all the soundpacks I'd ever want, if that's possible, and I will never be able to use everything I already have as it is, so I'm off to download and make some music...

    bummed!

well it sucks that kore will no longer evolve further than the awesomness that it is,
I only hope that Machine will last a long time ( longer than kore )

And oops tipo! crossgrade says $399 not $349

What kind of benefit will get the NI fans, who already own maschine? Anything beside the vouchers?

Don't get me wrong but sometimes I get the feeling I'm paying, paying, paying... e.g. paying for a Komplete 6 Update and shortly later for Komplete 7. Within Komplete 7 there are many Soundpacks and Instruments I bought before (Finger, Spark, electr. Instruments, etc.)

I welcome anyway that at least they'll sent out the vouchers... Let's see how long it will take....

As I first bought Kore2 a software only and the Controller a year later, I wonder if I get also the voucher because there is no possibilty to register the controller?

Mmmmh, perhaps I should contact the support instead of waiting...

Well, I love maschine (paid the normal price 6 months ago :-( ), though I'm dissapointed that NI discontinues Kore2... would have been worth to make it better...

I want conformation about these sound packs before picking them.. how many of them them will be included / re-used in the new komplete ? and if so which ones...

NI has already mis-sold/lead me something, doing the exact same thing.. repackaging it within something else (and missing VITAL information)... which I think is rather SNIDE for want of a better word and I distrust NI as a company because of it. (and something else you didn't honour)

giving folk less that an month to pick / buy packs isn't enough time.. sorry your forcing people to rush buy.. and then maybe I'll see them repackaged ? knowingly withholding info about it (as you have in the past) is a bad as being untruthful to me. Why would I buy something that might appear in Komplete soon after ?

also how can we pick what we want.. there is no direct link to demo sounds so we can make an informed choice!

    c'mon NI .... T H I N K

    @F0g: absolutely right!

seems to me that NI anyway will include all Kore Soundpacks into Komplete 8 coming up in August or September (remember the last 50% upgrade option?) and sell this as a "new" Update... ;-)

So, 1.5 hours left for me to get my vouchers "today" as announced... The I would have 24 days left to make a decision... when I get it tomorrow 23 days... on friday 22 days... on saturday 21 days... on sunday 20 days...:|

To you and the guy you quoted. No-one is forcing you to take these packs. Three of them are free so where's the risk to you? When/if Komplete 8 comes out, no-one will be forcing you to buy it. If you can't make up your mind on a bunch of sounds in 24 days then I'd hate to see you in a job where quick decisions are required.

schrage when you get stung by NI's pass MISLEADING advertising you might change you tune.. for want of a better phrase..

there is a saying look before you leap.. another phrase for you.. if your happy to chuck money away, some of us are not ;-)

it's the fact of the cost of packs etc. if you were told something was gonna re-appear FAR cheaper a month later in another product, would you buy it or wait and use the money for something else ?

so don't be so quick to be judgement..

you don't know anything about me or the other poster.. I know you like to make assumptions though ;-)

NI have had a lot of my money over the years ... like many more on here.. they'd do well to remember our money can go elsewhere also

if your NOT NI staff or even a mod.. well you can't answer the specific question.

fOg: So they're going to re-appear cheaper than free are they?

If you read enough of the Kore threads you'll see just how much I've been affected by this affair. Money and much, much more but, when all is said and done, NI are doing something here that they did not need to. Some might say they're only doing it to stop complaints but I'd guess that there are too few of us to REALLY make a difference.

As it happens, I think, sadly. there is little left for me here. I won't be interested in a set of plugins that are being tweaked for a drum machine but I won't be running off screaming and stamping my feet. I'll simply hope that one day, when people realise how musically limited loop-based stuff is, and the beats fad goes the way of the yo-yo, some bright spark at NI will shout "Remember that grand plan we had for a super-instrument".......

I've told people privately and publically how pissed off I am and how I think NI are making a huge mistake BUT, I repeat, they are making the best of it. They have done something to alleviate the piss-offedness of the situation and I respect that. I'll continue to keep my eye on what comes out of NI and I'll continue to hope for the best. If I don't buy any future NI stuff it will be because it does not fit in with what I want to do - NOT because they've annoyed me.

    Library Exporter, Patch Loader

    Hi,
I've invested a great deal of time in rating patches, writing comments, etc. Could NI please consider providing a tool that will allow me to export the tag/comment/star library to a neutral library program or format? Also, would be helpful to be able to export program combinations saved in Kore's formats. I know the library is in XML, so I can't imagine this would eat too many developer resources. Also, could we get a standalone single VSTi host that simply lets us browse/rate/load single patches using the Kore midi controller?

    Thank You,
    Disgruntled Rater

I too rated many thousands of sounds. Lost them all twice! Was on third run through when Kore was killed. You have my every sympathy (and if you're stuck for bad language, I could let you have some of the words I used :) )

It's not there yet but you may want to look at Big Tick's Zen for browsing. Tick seems keen to develop this into a new Kore. Doesn't use the Kore hardware unf.

I am a Kore user and I've just purchased Maschine in normal price from local dealer which is on the way to my home! Should I cancel it?

Can you apply $29 Kore Soundpack coupons to these new $59 prices? I hope so. It's probably the last chance I'll have to use these coupons.

I wrote the Zen guys a letter requesting that they offer a paid importer for Kore databases. Could you do the same? I think this might be a way for us to salvage this mess and support another (smaller, deserving) company.

    Edit:
Got a response from the lead developer on Zen. He says that he needs additional technical details on the KSD file format and the Kore hardware in order to make this happen. So far, NI has not been forthcoming on these. Let's hope that changes in the near future.

    Edit 2:
I have started a petition thread for NI to offer an export tool for the Kore DB, and detailed specifications for MIDI interactions with the Kore Controller. Please sign the petition here:
