    Slick Hip Hop Soul
In the early 90s, hard-hitting, sample-based hip hop began to merge with the glossy, high-production values of R&B – giving birth to an infectious new sound that would go on to dominate charts globally. Labels like Bad Boy Records (Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs) and So So Def (Jermaine Dupri) led the way, drawing on fresh talent – including new female voices, emerging as powerhouses in the hip hop sphere. With slick melodies and thick, textured beats, INFAMOUS FLOW captures the sound of platinum-selling hip hop and R&B from one of pop music’s golden ages.

INFAMOUS FLOW was created with Grammy Award winning producer and writer Snipe Young, whose collaborators include Nicki Minaj, The Game, Dr. Dre, Beyonce, and many more.

and again sooooo less Prism and Monark-Presets
why are there mostly just 5 Prism-presets? it´s such a nice synth with good capabilities...

General question for expansion users if you all don't mind...

Despite some of these providing some cool sounds, I've always stopped short of trying one due to so many others having access to the same sounds. Do you all do anything to combat that? Or do you rely on the "2 producers, 1 sample, different results" mindset?

How would you compare Infamous Flow to earlier released 90’s hip hop expansions such as Basement Era, Street Swarm, or maybe Conant Gardens. Or to put it another way, which two are the most similar for better or worse?

Snipe Young (the maker of Infamous Flow) also made the expansions:
    Street Swarm
    Lilac Glare
    Golden Kingdom

Basement Era is made by the dudes@RawCutz
and Conant Garden from Amp Fiddler
so there you can see which direction those expansions go to

Street Swarm has (for me) more Funk in it´s material

hope that helps a little bit and wiggle it ;)

Yeah that helps. I should clarify that I haven’t listened to the demos of Infamous Flow yet. I liked Conant Gardens and recently picked up Basement Era so maybe those are more to my liking. Street Swarm definitely has that dirty funky vibe though.

If you look at the variation that guitarists manage with a much more limited palette I don't think it's an issue for synthesizers in general or Maschine Expansions specifically.
I frequently take a pattern from an Expansion and mute over half the channels, change some of the instruments and improvise on top and end up with something which is very different.
I think of Expansions as starting points only.

Use the original expansion sounds as somewhat of a base to make a new sound. Add different effects, raise or lower the pitch, combining with other sounds, basically trying anything to make the original sound completely different.

you´ve better started this in a own doiscussion, then would be much(!) more useful input instead of hiding it in the "Infamous Flow"-thread

My curiosity was regarding the samples, not the synth patches.

I think one of the limitations of a guitar - no pre-recorded phrases - makes this a different situation.

    But I get it.

    Got it.

Just wondering. Not looking for suggestions.

I didn’t actually mention synths but instruments which can be either although I tend to use the Samples mainly.
As for the samples you can tweak them so they sound nothing like stock so it’s a complete non-issue. Have you used Maschine?
Most music doesn’t rely on the uniqueness of the sounds to be good but if you require that then don’t use presets, it’s that simple.
Well you actually asked for feedback which surely is asking for suggestions! Strange.

I was referring to your statement:
    but OK.

No, I have never used Maschine. I don't own one though I'm slightly considering trying one. But I've sampled and know many others that do. I know folks to dig far & wide for stuff no one has which is a big contrast to intentionally buying the same samples as others. My curiosity stems from that difference in mindset.

    Feedback = suggestions? OK.

I just purchased this xpack 48 hours ago and it won't install. After the download completes I get an error message stating "disc cannot be imaged". I opened a ticket and no reply from support so far 48 hours have passed. Even the link from my receipt is broken "Please use this web form to get in touch: http://www.native-instruments.com/salesuppfrm". Giving another 24 hours before I call my credit card company and dispute the transaction. Not the level of service I expect from a company like Native Instruments.
