I'll check this when I can. I know that MIDI output from M+ over USB wasn't working for me t'other day.

Output works but the input doesn’t
I’ve got midi over usb from my xm
And I’m also using a nektar midi flex 4, I disconnected that and it made no difference,

I also get the occasional reboots whilst idle and I’ve had a couple of freezes, I’m only sequencing a couple of midi devices and 1 drum group

Last time it froze I just left it and it rebooted itself , so I’ll probably just do that from now on.

When it does reboot it reloads everything ok
I save regularly , so I don’t lose any project data

Well thanks for checking, I’ll be fine using USB Midi for the time being. Oddly enough if I leave my M+ in the “Step” view rather than the “Pad” view, it doesn’t seem to crash when idling. NI definitely has some work to do on this.

    Hello dear Maschinê community!

I got my unit and don’t regret one bit getting it! It’s the new love of my life haha.

i have a couple of questions:

    1. when a sound is highlighted and i go in to stepmode, for eg a shaker, and i have a 2 bar loop. How do I select all events of that sound? Select all events.

And how do i move padgrid to ”second page” without having to push play and ”follow” in gridbutton?

    2. Is it possible to connect an akai mpc2000? The old one. Really old one. My friend has one and we just want to try. I know its unnecessary when i own the instrument of instruments!

    3. Is there a list of connectable old instruments? Old rolands and old korgs and stuff. My friend is a 50 year old analogue gear freak!

i’ve never connected stuff like that before. Connect to midi in on m+ to midi out on external device?

ps: my first gen akai mpk mini works when i connect ut to usb, why wouldn’t JAM work??? That’s so silly. How can NI not make their own unsupported hw work, but a 10-11 yeard old unsupported akai midi keyboard does?

I have Maschine MK3, thinking about upgrade, but – will plugins like guitar rig or kontak sample-based plugins will be able for installing on Maschine + in future?

Not sure about 1 atm , I’ll have to brush up on the step sequencer

    2 , yes

3, any thing with midi ports , my Jupiter xm works over usb

Midi in to out and vice versa

Ps , it’s to do with class compliant usb

Thank you ALDREAD for your replies!!

So here's what happened yesterday! My M+ Crashed a few times. Has this happened to any of you? I have latest firmware.

Scenario: Maschine+ connected to an analogue mixer, 2 mixer channels one for left, one for right. Mixer connected to an analogue compressor, connected to an amplifier with pretty awesome old speakers tbh.

M+ connected with midicable to an mpc2000, midicable connected to M+ midi in, mpc2000 midi out, it was master clock. I had midi settings set for receive clock, midi channel in enabled, midi channel out disabled. At the beginning everything was working perfectly, we were jamming and creating music as we went along.

After a while, around and hour, my M+ kinda froze. I had to hold the powerbutton to shut it off and restart it. When I did, the midi-in connection did not work. I turned off midi clock recevie, I disabled midi in channel, I restarted system, we changed midi cable, we tried midi channel 2 as a clock send on mpc200 but it didn't work. However all other analogue machines were midi synced on the mpc2000 clock, so the problem was obviously in the M+, 2 other different units worked perfectly in sync with the MPC.

So I just turned M+ off, pulled out power cable, let it be for around 15 minutes, restarted again, loaded a factory project, reconnected midi cables, redid midi settings and it worked again! ...for a while ...and then it crashed again after around 35-45 minutes resulting midi clock not working again. And project we were working on is stuck in an odd bpm atm. 120,02. Can't get rid of the 0,2 hahaha.

Is this a firmware problem? The M+ unit was not overheated (it felt cool underneath), and we we're working at somewhere between 60%-70% of CPU.

What should I do? Send this unit back and get a new one? I still have warranty...Does this happen to anyone else?

yes Ive had some freezes , like you, after an hr or so , not every time I use it , in the general settings, page 2or 3 you can set it to reload last project, after it reboots it will load the last project , as long as it’s saved , I save regularly.
I think the last time it crashed, I just left it and it rebooted itself after a few minutes.

I and others have noticed the midi in port stopped working sporadically, atm I’m not using the m+ ports , I’ve got a nektar midi flex 4 so I’ve been using this
I generally use the + as the clock , but i set the xm as the clock to test it ( the xm has some clock issues itself which I’m trying to get Roland to correct)
I did notice my mc 101 was playing at double the speed at one point , I think I switched off the m+ usb midi ports, to correct this .
Atm everything seems to be working pretty well , didn’t crash last night , was getting some audio pops , but this is a known issue .

    Yo!

So i shouldnt send my unit back?
I have it set to reload latest project on start. But when we got it to work i wanted to show my homeboy that complete tracks can be produced within the unit (since he’s a crazy scientist wizard analogue dude) so i loaded a factory project. While that was loaded we did the midi settings stuff. So after i turned it off and pulled the cable, waited 10-15 mins, i started the unit, it loaded our project, i loaded the same factory project we tried at first, did the midi settings, then loaded our project and then it worked again. And around 30-40 mins later it froze again and midi receive clock (or send clock for that matter) kinda died. It didnt register.

could it be some sort of electrical issue? They can’t have a standalone unit made for studio and live performance not being able to handle midi clock and just suddenly die for a moment.

my friend doesnt have internet so i wasnt connected to wifi either so that the freezez and shutdown errors were sent to the user data stuff.

i press shift+save for every tweak now lol.

    No , I don’t think it’s a hardware issue.

Is your + up to date ? I take it you’ve connected it to WiFi before ?
I think there’s an update coming soon , hopefully this will provide a fix .

Have you got another usb midi interface?

Shift and save is probably my most use shift+ function :D

hey again! Yes, the firmware(?) or M+ software inside the M+ is up to date. Attached an image i took this morning.

i hope it’s software related, dont wanna have to troubleshoit and send back and wait again and stuff like that.

    Hello There,

Sometimes, my Maschine+ is "fast" to power on (20 seconds), sometimes it freezes on the "Maschine+ is starting" message for 60+ seconds, before being ready.

It is not set to reload the last project at startup, in airplane mode, with no USB devices connected, and runs the latest firmware.

Have you ever had this problem ?

I am scared after I watched this video "Maschine plus definitely not running. I have contact NI" support. where a Maschine+ does not start anymore (froze on "Maschine+ is starting" message after 3 weeks of use.

    Hi guys!
New to this. Just got my Maschine + 2 days ago, and I am still fiddling around just to get an idea of what I am doing.
Anyway, I m not yet very familiar with the file structure and cant find the drum kits like Abbey road anymore, also the 808 is nowhere to be found. I m assuming I'm incapable of seeing the obvious, but I just kind find any of the preinstalled kits after I updated yesterday.
    Any help?

Is the "Maschine Factory Library" installed? Check in Settings > Library
If its is then select "Maschine" in Groups the 808 kit is the 3rd one from the top, Abbey kits are right after since it works in alphabetical order.

I’m having the same issues that you are so I wouldn’t send it back just yet, hopefully the next update takes care of some of the crashes and the MIDI input dropping out periodically. I’m guessing that NI is aware of the MIDI issues but it might not hurt starting a new thread about it. The MIDI wasn’t working for me until I accidentally started the M+ in controller mode (power button orange) because I had the USB cable plugged into my MPC Live II. Once I power cycled after it tried booting in controller mode the MIDI input started working so that might be worth a try.

So i went back to my homie last night, he had for our first meeting made a small analogue setup for him to work on and we had issues(as previously mentioned).

last night we didnt have any issues at all with the midi in and receive clock or nothing. We went 5 hours without a freeze or restart or shutdown or nothing. I felt like i was flying!! Posted pics of smokey kitchen setup haha.

strange behaviour from my M+, but it worked flawlessly yesterday!
