- you must use a DC adapter to power the S2
- then the S2 powers and charges the ipad
- powering the S2 from the ipad will not work, also a hub will not help at all.

So AcidAlex303 : you are right this means it is not mobile in total
I do not own a S2mk3, so all i wrote above is based on my older S4/TDJ experience.
And omg .. is this true, the S2 does not include a NI power adapter ? The old models did :/

 

Yeah Maybe they might create a package with an ipad and everything needed. I was annoyed myself i bought an adapter, hub and a usb cable and only needed the dc power supply i bought a few months ago.

 

To be fair kalo you have to look at the price of the s2 mk3 and the fact you get both tdj2 and traktor pro 3 free of charge.

Except you can’t use TDJ2 without buying a power adapter

 

True a bit of advanced notice would not go amiss.

 

Watch for a documentation update which will address this. (Specifically those diagrams which show how all the gear is connected.)

Any one found out how to decrease tempo range default is at + and - 14 could do with it being at 8 i know how to increase shift and pitch up or down? Must say its quite a good app i have found that it analyzes the tracks in the background.

 

No, you can never reinstall a app which is no longer in store ...(if someone has other info, very welcome, i wished i would be wrong, details below)

I do not have a problem as i downloaded the Physical iOS app locally on my PC already (' Traktor DJ 1.6.8.ipa) ... I am worrying about the hundreds user which missed to do this.

Be aware: as soon a app is out of store .. you are lost on reinstalls, and most worse (because most user rely on this): they reinstall an ipad, then restore from older backups and get surprised: ios backup (cloud or itunes doesnt matter) do NOT include any apps !!, only references tolinks to the app in store. Apple did this some time ago (quite silently) .. so the user (without a app.ipa file) are lost forever in new installs !! Has nothing to do whether purchased or not.

 

Thats a bit shitty is tied in to ios version is it not possible to back date firmware. I am a new apple user first ipad so it might be a dumb question.

Maybe at least some few good news ... seems like you can make a trick to make the duo ipad/S2 completelly mobile: connect your ipad via iOS port as mentioned ... but instead a NI power adapter connect in addition the usb in plug (the orange one) with a 5V power battery pack ... listen video (0:27)

Kalo I figured it out!! If you open app store on your ipad & tap on updates, you will see an face icon in the top right corner. It will bring up your account details, from there if you choose purchased (see first image). This will take you to a list of all apps you have ever downloaded. You can search for the app you are looking for (see 2nd image). Just tried this myself & confirm that it works.

As for backups etc not too sure, you would prob have to start from scratch with your library. But it def is possible to download apps no longer in the app store

 

Well I'm here to say that with my S2 Mk3 plugged into it's appropriate DC power pack from NI and plugging my iPad into the iOS port it is not charging my ipad or communicating with the controller. Nothing

 

have you checked all cables work, Have you gone into settings on the ipad and finally how old is the ipad?

 

great details thanks !!! At least this woks .. what does not work, i tested already:
- in case a app gets a new version, your old version is lost forever (i had thus issue once when a TDj1 release was worse than before
- restore a ios backup: does definitelly not work, the backup contains links to apps only
