The whole sounds.com thing seems quite laborious at the moment. From what I can tell so far, there's nothing in Maschine or KK that interacts. It's the opposite. You have to go to your sounds.com profile and allow "Download All to NI Apps" in your account options. With that, you must then create a Collection manually and only then you can download it to your apps. There's no option to just snag one of the premade collections there, you have to take each file and move it to your collection. Silly and time consuming, and much quicker to just move the downloaded zip file into your KK library folders on your computer. Hopefully they can add some useful functionality to Sounds soon, otherwise I don't see a lot folks caring (of the minority that actually already did care about this feature) much about it...

Maschine can deffinitely be used as just a scratch pad, but lately I find I am using ideas view to complete 90% of my songs before bouncing into Bitwig or Reason 10. It really depends on the mood. Some of the quirky features of maschine like the audio module gate feature can take my tracks in directions I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

The funny thing is, I am finishing more songs now that I have Maschine than I did with any of my other tools. Funny how our brains work differently, but to each their own :)

Here's the thing, for most modern productions, Maschine is already 75% of the way there in being a complete workflow. It isn't meant to be a complete production workflow, but there's some glaring omissions that make working with it quite tedious versus just using a standard MIDI controller with your DAW of choice.

Agree, and I think it is important for us to remember that all music production software has “glaring omissions” of some type, and the reason being is that software can’t be all things to all people. What might be a glaring omission to workflow for some, might not matter to others and vice verse.

Maschine, like all music software, has plenty of areas to improve. As it stands, Maschine is already complimentary to my workflow so 2.8 doesn’t affect me one way or another. I’m still making dope music. You could give me tascam field recorder and a 4 track tape recorder and I could still get down.

Hm, I’ve used Push 2 with Ableton, but prefer Jam, actually, so I kept it and got rid of the Push. At one point I though to have both, but just don’t have real use for it beside Jam.

So far my favorite combo is a Jam, a Mikro Mk3 and an A series keyboard. Mikro for pads, the keyboard for keys, Jam as a DAW controller.

Coprophilia, yes....but zoophilia?? Maybe I need to brush up on my definitions. Either way, it's worth noting that the man's actions are completely coerced....so there's nothing to be fetishized here...it's totally involuntary

I'm not mad about sounds.com integration I think it's a cool addition (Very similar to splice) However I don't feel like this was worthy of a major update if this is what this is. I mean I'm cool with downloading a wav file and dragging it in to the app so making that easier for me is appreciated but not necessarily what I wanted to see improve in the App. Why would NI ignore useful feature requests by the very people who keep them in business. If NI is to compete with AKAI or any other company they need to keep up with the features. There's nothing in MPC Maschine shouldn't be able to do short of running stand alone in my opinion. NI you need to stand for excellence show some pride and competitiveness in your products.

You don't have to drag it in, it's automated, synced across instances, basically seamless.
Keep in mind the opposite also applies, both software do things that the other doesn't.

I'm just growing a bit jaded that NI is not bashful in the slightest to show their users where NI's focus is at....

It's the SOUNDS.COM platform....that's their "baby" at the current moment.
